Interesting blades on the Coates.

Today, GEC 68 White Owl in the funky Kryptonite Green, it's growing on me! The pattern-Clip version-is really decent, get one.

Andi you better button up!! I'd send you a coat if I had any but alas I don't; it's just shy of 80 F here in Florida today :o

Now,

So after a while with the above 73 and about a month with the 71, I ended up favoring the 73.

Back in my pocket. I think for good.

It's a nice #73 you've got there Kevin.

I've veered back towards mine. Although the #72 Cocobolo lockback is a really pretty knife I've discovered the frame has a lot of flex in it which worries me with regard to using the knife for whittling for example. I suspect it is a combination of thin brass liners combined with wood scales (I'll post some pic's when i get a chance). In contrast my #73 has no flex, I put this down to the back spring being in one piece and continuing around the butt of the knife, bone scales and the extra layer of the linerlock. I imagine yours doesn't flex for similar reasons except with tasty stag:)

Thanks, guys. It's a forced patina--almost looks hot-blued in person--using boiling cider vinegar (brush on with a cotton ball, polish out until even with non-abrasive silver polish, repeat five or six times). It was really stained and blotchy from cutting a lot of fruit over several months, so I figured it would be a good blade for some experimentation.
