What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This thread moves at such a breakneck pace, I’m almost afraid to dip into it, worrying if I make a post, I may unintentionally miss out on replying to someones comment!:D The new forum software makes it easier to keep track, though, and looking over the last few pages, I see I’ve really been missing out! What a cascade of stellar photography and cutlery!

Jack, you know I’m always drawn to pics of your Unity Lambsfoot, like a fly to honey!:thumbsup: Thanks for the biographical info, too. Funnily enough, I had it’s twin out yesterday, as a quick sharpening session turned into a bit of extended edge honing and maintenance oiling, for quite a few Old Friends.

I’m sure I don’t need any excuses to share a couple of pics of My Precious, though!;):)

Nice one, Jer. I like that Puñal too.:cool: I know next to nothing about them, but it looks like a very nice score. Seeing it made me think, if it were to turn up in the pages of the Books and Blades thread, it couldn’t fail to be paired up with the gaucho influenced works of Argentinean writer Jorge Luis Borges, freighted as they often are, with portentous blades: Streetcorner Man, The Meeting, Rosendo’s Tale, and of course, his poem: The Dagger.

Chin, in my opinion, any excuse to post that lovely Lambsfoot is a good one!
Also, thank you for the link to the Borges stuff. I never read it before and found it very good.

You've better command of your emotions than I do, Dean; that beauty brought a tear to my eye! ;):thumbsup: It also inspired me to try again to "fix" my new chestnut jigged bone CV teardrop. Despite repeated Dawn washings, it needed to be pushed closed from half stop. :(
I tried another wash, plus WD-40, and that finally did the trick! :) It doesn't close with a thunderclap, but it does snap shut with a cute little "snick".

Thanks, Gary! You have a nice Teardrop! I like the pattern. I bought another one and it is also flush in all 3 positions on both blades. It has much better snap than my single blade one.

Very nice, Gev!:thumbsup: I like the two blade design, too.

I carried a Case stockman today. This one sharpened up really well on all 3 blades.

Nice to see a Middleman Stockman getting some love. I read somewhere that the 34OT was Schrades top seller of all time, so a lot of people must be carrying them.
I have it’s sibling, a 33OT Middleman Jack. It’s perfect for when you want to go light, but still want a blade big enough.
Definitely, my first good knife was a 34OT, and I love my 33OT though I do wish I didn't get it unused with major blade play.
I ignore it though because my dad got it as a gift from my grandfather, and because I don't notice it during use anyways.

Thanks Dean! Awesome looking Case !! My Case sodbuster came out to bust a pallet of tile for a remodel. My sister did most of the heavy lifting:eek: My sternum is still healing but I did what I could in my atrophied state :(

340T was also my first quality knife after my Camillus Cub Scout knife. Lost it when I was a young Marine. I hope whoever found it gave it a good life!!!

A GLORIOUS day in the great state of North Dakota:thumbsup: a 79° day allowed for an enjoyable day to stain my rear deck:) The Churchill is such a GREAT knife and helped with more than one task today.

Nice-looking Ebony Churchill!
Great job staining the deck as well. Do you now apply a coat of spar varnish or polyurethane, or just stick with the stain?

Thank you, love the Churchills:thumbsup: No varnish or polyurethane top coat. It's a commercial penetrating oil we have used since 2001:thumbsup:
