What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Not so traditional, but it's Memorial Day. My son carried a Boker Applegate-Fairbairn in Iraq. I was lucky to get it back after he was killed in '05. He took this pic.

Ah jeez, my friend. Words fail me, so I’ll just say I know what this day is like for you.

Especially on today but every day, thanks to those who have sacrificed all for the United States of America. To all the families who have seen one of these special people go, thank you as well. God bless.

Knife content, digging in the dirt today. I think I need a sodbuster?

Teaching my daughter how to play "Hero Quest" Sobering thought that the game is 28 years old now...

I worked for the British company that co-produced Hero Quest, Games Workshop. It was a fun gig for sure. Hopefully you've played Talisman at one point or another. If not, you definitely owe it to yourself to try it out!

I haven’t! Man what a cool job! I will try and track that game down : )

The photo is great but that strap is an awesome choice on your Hamilton.

Thanks Mr Swanson, I've got the factory bracelet but it's just a little too dressy, the leather band is just right :)

Busy day today! we had company over this afternoon for a bbq. This morning, we got the kids and dog up early to take a hike in the foothills. Love this time of year - before the desert starts looking like... desert ;)

Buck 501 today, cutting apples and opening hot dog packages :)

A thinking Marine's EDCs.

Nice Bianchi and Ek (I have an Ek, but a hunter, not the fighter). The challenge coins are real nice mementos, but that grenade pin gives me pause (the fact that you are able show it is a good sign).

Thanks for sharing the pictures, guys, and thanks for your service. Thank you and yours, too, Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund and @Chief .

Thank you for the kind words, Stuart! I wish we never had to have such mementoes or these sorts of days, but it's an honor to share them here with all these good folks! Glad to be a part of this place!

I've never been a particular fan of the Sword & Sorcery games, but I do remember a few post-pub games of Talisman! :D

Looking good my friend :)

Hope everyone has a good week :) Pocketing these two today

H HFinn , I personally don't regard the politics of the "why's" and "who's" of war on this day. Alied,Axis, or neutral,Or even wether one served during war or peacetime. Important to remember the men and women who stepped up to serve their respective nation and cause, and are no longer with us. And most nations have suffered a civil war at some point in their history, which to me is most tragic kind of all. So thanks to ALL who have served THEIR country, and did the best they could under the leadership of their respective times.

You are right of course. My grandfather did not serve in ww2 because of his age and his position as a local police chief. He gave another kind of sacrifice. He was jailed after the war for suspicion of being partner in a large scale weapons caching operation, this happened because of the possibility of russian occupation. He was not well and got a bad treatment while in jail. He died later because of the complications. No proof was found however, allthough personally I'm sure he did play a part.

I do not approve with all he did, but he followed his principles to the end. My father told me that his dad newer forced his own beliefs upon him. Follow your conciense and do what is right.
