Tidioute White Owl today.

Sam noted a couple pages back about the tiger stripe ebony on my 68, saying he had a guitar fretboard of that wood. So, I decided to take a comparison shot of the ebony of my 68 and the ebony of my Larrivée fretboard, which is definitely not tiger stripe. Not the best picture, but it does show the difference in the woods.

Edited to say that it now appears the picture is displaying properly.

Which Böker is that? What´s the handle material?

Kind regards
Andi
It's a Boker USA 9885 Stockman with Yellow Celluloid handles. From what I hear it could be from the late 50's early 60's. I believe its 1085 steel.

I like the way you smoothed the Opinel handle, looks good!
Thanks, I wanted to smooth out the top bump so it would be more comfortable in the palm and also added a bit of an easy open notch. The wood is REALLY smooth now and it's got decent depth, I used the technique here: Danish Oil Finish

I adjusted the saturation in photobucket and replaced the original to get it closer to how it actually looks, and that picture shows up in my album, but when I paste the img file here it still appears as the unedited original, which is a bit washed out looking. Sorry, I'm a dolt when it comes to photos and photo editing.

Gents, Please delete the expletives. And for Pete's sake don't quote them.

What do you think of it Nathan?

Love at first sight Kevin :) It's nice and slim with whole lot of blade and the ebony has such a warm feel to it. I really like the single spring on the #85 pattern as well; it disappears in the pocket. I popped it on the sharpmaker last night until it would shave hair and it's been in my pocket since. I'll be spending more time with it to really get the edge I want, but I couldnt be happier

I picked up a #66 jack in pumpkin patch as well, my first in the pattern, but have been so taken with the E/O that I haven't really checked it out yet. I'll remedy that soon I'm sure :)

Just my Stockman which got it's first taste of blood today, unfortunately it was my own :o . I was rubbing excess vegetable oil off of the blades and my thumb tapped the sheepsfoot blade... :livid: I did a good job of sharpening it, I gave myself a nice little slice.

I'll take a pic tomorrow but I gave it a nice base patina (I know...) by using a banana, trying to keep the carbon steel blades polished was a lost cause. It started off with a nice gun-metal grey but now is picking up some purple/rainbow hues on the steel with everyday use. Pretty cool.

The past few days I've been carrying my new Case 2007 Tested XX Wharncliffe Mini Trapper. Big thanks to Trand (2Dead) for pointing this knife out to me, so don't have to settle for one in radioactive orange, lime green, or violent violet.

That is a beauty. I really desire a Case 2007 Tested XX Wharncliffe Mini Trapper....now. Thanks for pointing it out to me.

I'm really liking the scales on this one...can you tell us more about it ?

Still one of my favorites, amber worm grove bone Shatt & Morgan Railsplitter. Ususally I like more thin blades which the secondary blades are but the main clip is thicker then usual on a stock knife in the size. This RS has some wonderfully heat treated blades like my other S&M and the that main blade cuts like a thinner blade!
