What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I am just going to have to assume that the last 1000+ posts in this thread that I've missed are full of the absolute best knives around. My apologies that I do not have the time to get caught up, that would be a task indeed.

Hoping I can chime in a bit more often.

I have these two with me today. I hope you all have a terrific weekend!

@Wurrwulf Thanks for the 34OT compliment.

Thanks Stuart, but your 34OT below is truly a jewel! :)

Thanks, Ron. I was lucky to pick it up.

Still with this one today.

I saw what you did there. Well played, boy, oh boy, well played.

Friday the 13th!!

That Case will bring you through and good luck.

I truly love the 340T, hope that one gets a lot of pocket time!

Already happening. Thanks. It's pretty handy, I must say.

Needed some snacks for the boat so I took along this Victorinox....we ate good;)

Man, that looks like fine venison summer sausage. But, I could be wrong (and still hungry).

Fixed and Fremont Friday

That is a fine looking fixed. I was transfixed.

Nice one, it reminds me of this old Crucible I have

I, too, like a Crucible. Thanks for sharing.

A classic. And it looks pristine!

Thanks. Yes, it is and I am just lucky (and happy).

Had this in my pocket today while I was doing some more work on my latest project . Was also using my old TEW Lambfoot .
GEC #43 in Orange Camel Bone

It took about 3 hours to get the Harness Hame all cleaned off and polished .

The cane is awesome! In 2012-2013, I became well acquainted with needing a cane. Long story, but I am blessed not to need one for now. I did make a couple, one from a twisty piece of cedar with an old shifter knob, and one from a hickory shovel handle that people called a cudgel - even though I never hit them with it.
I think one of those hames might be something to prowl the flea markets for!

Harry, your TEW knives inspired me to bite on this one. Blade is near pristine, but the plastic handle is badly broken on one side. No doubt that’s why it was affordable!
Rehandling project pending...

In the last pic you can see that the blade is off center, but I think I can fix that when I pin new scales on.

I know that you have the skills to take care of that handle issue . Is the blade Carbon or Stainless . I would suspect stainless because all 3 of my newer ones are stainless .
Now you are Eligible to join the Guardian of the Lambfoot and post it in that thread . Good to have you in that club my friend . Congrats !!!!!
Now I am anxious to see what you do with the Handles or Covers .
The cane that I am now working on is being made from a Shovel handle that was probably 20 years old when I broke it about 10 years ago . I really liked that shovel too . Moved a heck of a lot of dirt with it when we had a house built in 1989 - 1990 .
On the first cane , I used part of an Oak 2" X 4" and worked it down with a Draw Knife . The Hame that I used was a little fancier one and harder to work with .

Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund ...
Isn’t 10 dots 1970? I get mixed up. ‘80 is when they started with the x’s and dots, removing one each year?”
Thank you. I’m no expert around these parts, but this whaler is marked like the lower left, but has 10 dots.

Don’t forget to check out the resources tab. We try to make a one stop reference link to help quickly find info to help I’d knives, where to find knife oeridicles and reference books.

Here’s a link, it’s available on one of the toolbars for bf. Blade Forum’s Resource Page. Check it out, you may find what you need.

I am fairly sure it’s carbon due to the peppering just off the eye on the etch and along the top of that side. Also a bit of pitting on the tang of the pile side.

Do steel liners tell you anything about age?

This simple Opinel friction folder is being used more than ever. Just made nice curls in dry firewood to better start a fire. The knife has handled any job I care to try with it. Jackknife is right about how usefull friction folders are. In my opinion no need for a extended tang, if pivot is tight enough.
