What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks, Jack and Dean. I saw a Wade & Butcher Sheldon patent knife (different handle cover and blade than mine) for sale online that cites 1819-1918 as its dates, but that seems too long ago for my knife. Onward and upward!

As you probably do, I think those dates are absolute nonsense Stuart! :D :thumbsup:

If Keef carried a knife it would be a decadent one :D Small antique belonging to Marie Antoinette or Napoleon...or else scales made of human bone..:D:D:eek: Maybe a Wharncliffe, Norfolk type :cool:;)

Lots of posts in the past have mentioned that Keith Richards carries an Okapi "ratchet knife".

Yep :thumbsup:

Babysitting with a bad back today! :eek: Hope these two are going to be enough ;) :thumbsup:

An excellent duo, no question! Fiddleback F have a lot to answer for....:cool:

What's happened to Primble? For a year or two he was a VIP here, lot of interesting posts, excellent collection, very genial type, he also attended a GEC Rendezvous some years back. Then vanished...did he lose interest in Traditionals :eek: or did fishing take over his whole life?:D If you are in touch, send him my regards:thumbsup:

Thanks, Will

Looking for something appropriate for Wooden Wednesday that I hadn't posted previously, I went digging through some boxes. Recent fine posts by @r8shell confirmed that I needed to post this find: a Miller Brothers swell end (or teardrop) jack. The firm went out of the pocket knife production business in 1926, so this fellow is a bit long in the tooth. Like all of the Millers that I have or seen, they were all pretty well made.

Of course, it wasn't until I uploaded the pic that I noticed my finger print on the shield.

Pretty neat top edge bevel on pile side of secondary:

Also didn't notice my reflection in the shield until too late:

Edited to clean up some typos.

That's a dandy for sure.

Gorgeous Stuart!

It may be Wednesday in real time, but in the "totin' thread", I'm still enjoying the weekend! :D:thumbsup:

Today will be lazy day. Too much ozone in the air to do any chore, even in the garden. So a tiny and capable 303 will do the (no) job! :)

:D Your Buck Cadet is a classic, @Jolipapa ! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Alan, you have some sensational customs, but that stag drop point WLST Barlow can hold its own in that fast company! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

A couple older GEC models 72 and 73 Beaver Tails

... Slid the #43 into my back pocket next to my wallet. It should be able to handle whatever pops up today.

Very impressive, Dave & John; I'm a sucker for shields that are actual pictures of things! :cool::thumbsup::cool: All three knives with jigged wood covers?

... I'm totin' a 1981 NKCA "Big Cigar" by Queen today. Not much cuttin' on my horizon, except for clipping a cigar or two later today/tonight. This should do the job.

W:eek:W, Stuart, that stag equal-ender is a dream :cool::thumbsup::cool: (although the number on the bolster might be considered nightmarish by some :rolleyes:).

An old favorite city knife and a new favorite Pioneer X with me today. Hope everyone is having a fine weekend.

Nice combo, Tom; your white/blue rocks! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

Holy Cow, Paul T, that's a quintessential stockman right there! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup:

Yesterday's carry

That MAM takes you to a higher gear, FBC! :thumbsup:;):thumbsup:

How many days of your month-long carry has it been so far? Does your grandpa know what your plans are for the knife? :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Stuart your Queen Cigar is a great knife! I’ve got a pair of those in one of my rolls. I haven’t seen them in so long I forgot what numbers they are. :) Hope everyone has a great Saturday! :thumbsup: :)

Delectable stag duo, Ron! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Carrying these 2 today and we had to pick some Cucumbers and even this Siamese one .

Heavenly Henckels, Harry! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Just got this Hibbard Spencer & Bartlett serpentine pen and I can’t put it down.
Congrats on the HSB stunner, Nick! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

A Gerber Silver Knight built by Sakai. Hitachi Gin-1 blade steel at 58-60 HRC blade hardness. Immaculate machining. One of my favorites.

Always a treat to see that unusual (to me) Gerber, Frank! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

From the Exchange. @Gary W. Graley A beautiful Amherst Cutlery “Slim Daddy Barlow.” Gary made the soft, but tough Elk skin, as well as a beautiful sheath. A production knife that looks and feels like a Custom.

Congrats on the acquisition, @cigarrodog ! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: (And IMHO, it's quite a feat to be able to take a photo that makes a knife look as good as G2's pics do. ;):thumbsup:)

...Last night my dog got the business end of a skunk!:mad:
So today he got a good scrubbing with tomato juice, then a double shampooing.
I sure hope he learned from this.:rolleyes:
I hope so too, Jeff! ;) One of our dogs encountered a skunk on the compost pile one night last week; still not sure how she came out of that without getting sprayed. :confused::eek:

Hugo!! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup:

...
But if I followed the same reasoning on what to carry, I could grab one, almost any one, and give away the rest!
So true, Jeff; I try not to think about that! :rolleyes:

...
Hope everyone is having a great weekend :) I'm back with this familiar pair today ;) :thumbsup:

So it's to be a church wedding, then? :p:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Camillus 51 today

High-class Camillus Barlow, Steve! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

These are very similar in many ways. I like them both so they're both getting carried today.
Have a great Sunday!

Splendid svelte stag/horn pair, Gary! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

With the recent slew of stockman knives shown, I thought that I'd simply slip a small one in Sunday clothing into my pocket today: a Queen 54 (1979) 2 5/8". I think that the secondary is actually a sheep's pinky-toe blade.

At church this morning and on the way home:
CSC 2015 BladeForums Double-ended jack.

Case John Deere teardrop.
Stuart & Dean, those are some very fitting church knives you've posted! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks GT! I figure a little culture never hurt anyone. That chestnut bone sowbelly of yours is a classic looker right there.
That is a gorgeous knife, GT. Case's CV chestnut line seems to always excel. :thumbsup:
...
I hope you have a great vacation, Gary!
...
Thanks, GT. Everyday is an adventure, but no solid ID for that particular knife (I do like it). That Case sowbelly is meaty. Love it!

Thanks for the kind words, Josh & Dean & Stuart. :) I do like Case's chestnut jigged CV series.

Carried the new to me Ulster. It has a bail,and I already have an interesting old brass clasp I found. It has a toggle to lock it closed.So I bought some "antique brass" chain in the craft section of wallyworld. Now I have a neat chain for my bailed knives.(only 2 at the moment):)
Congrats on the Ulster and on that nice chain set-up! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Just got this one, riding in the watch pocket now;

Peanut by GaryWGraley, on Flickr

G2
Congrats on the new peanut, Gary; I'm usually not a fan of white-handled knives, but for some reason, Case's white jigged Sparx (?) covers really appeal to me. :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Cool, Gary. What’re you planning on for the blades?
Just need to take them down to a more acute angle so they're more efficient for whittling.

Some real nice carries there, especially that colonial.
Thanks, HnS. :)

Beautiful knife, Paul! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Great line-up GT, hope you have a great vacation my friend :) :thumbsup:
...
I'm beginning the week with these two :thumbsup:

Thanks, Jack. :) Kicking off the week with double horn (buffalo and unicorn) is a fantastic start! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Used my Electrician this morning to start de-barking an oak branch that I saved from a windstorm last summer and brought on vacation to turn into a walking stick.
