What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

A 1981 Case XX 62087 Jack knife that I liberated from a random box of otherwise junk at an outdoor antique show last weekend.

Today is Mystery Monday for me, as I'm totin' a mystery knife, and could use some help with a couple of questions. I apologize in advance for the number of pics, but seeing is part of understanding. The first mystery is the maker. Here's the maker's mark:

Second mystery is the wood used for the covers (sorry for the screws @Chief ):

I'm pairing it today with my CRKT Larry Fischer tribute Hunt 'N Fisch to go check out some tree stands at our hunting place.

Thanks for your indulgence and patience. Any ideas as to maker or wood?

Thank you Gary, you have infinite options with the Recruit and Minichamp:thumbsup:
Thanks, Paul; I like my Vics. :)

I really like their Carhartt line of knives. The few that I have are all well made, they seem to have a higher QC level on 'em. Plus I like the "as ground" blades.
They definitely look good. :thumbsup::thumbsup: I recently bought a couple of Case Caliber knives (stockman and muskrat) with no liners, Zytel covers, as ground blades, on sale for about $15 each at a big online Case dealer; they remind me a little bit of your Carhartts.

Not only don't they look good together they don't work together. I was pairing different knives with the whittler to see how they might work. I think it should be a single blade.
:thumbsup::thumbsup:

That's a fetching knife, Dave! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Glad you like that ol gal! I love an old knife with soul.

Yes, the mods are all mine, every mistake, do-over, etc. No one else to blame.:oops:
I'm impressed! :thumbsup::cool::cool: I can't do any knife repair/mod that requires disassembly of the knife! :eek:

A lost knife leaves a longing memory. I know. Do you remember what it was? Regardless, keep a firm grip on that Recruit, as it is a winner.

It was almost certainly an Imperial or Colonial back in 1965, it had 2 blades (my recollection, possibly faulty, is clip and pen) but I can't even remember if they were on the same end of the knife. Thanks for respecting my Recruit; one of my favorite SAK models, sort of the ancestor of all the other configurations.

I made the bail for my Camillus from a piece of coat hanger! :D:thumbsup:

I made a bail for my Forest-Master from part of an S-hook I originally bought to repair a toilet flush lever linkage. :rolleyes:

Thanks GT!

What’s the square hook for on the bottom knife?
Joshua, that's a little suspension hook a BF member (thanks, Dave) made for me. I use it to suspend my Minichamp and usually another SAK to the back edge of my left front pocket every day. Works like a charm! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks, Gary! Your Recruit and Minichamp are standards for the everyman knife. :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks, Dean. :) That's a cool little spearpoint TC! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Thank you GT. It’s a Stainless cut co made by Camillus.
Thanks for the ID, Nick. :)

Bought my first "Traditional" knife today. Not used to carrying something so small in the pocket.

Case JR Scout

Congrats on the first traditional, @TALON52 ! Cool Case scout, but that pattern IS quite small! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Splendid Northfield Barlow, @Lift link ! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Back to the Catt today. Love the big ol nail nick.

(There's a knife in this last picture, I swear - you might have to zoom in).
Cool pics, Aaron! :cool::thumbsup::cool: Is it possible that there are TWO knives in that photo?? :confused: I first saw an equal-end pattern in the shadow on the ground between the first yellow pole and the "channel" coming left from the strut-like thingie. And after Stuart's hint I found the one in the intake.

Is that the knife you in which you were originally disappointed? How are you liking it now?

Couldn’t decide which one, so I carried ‘em both..

Stellar Stag Seahorse Whittler, Chip!! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

This Rough Rider half-whittler helped with food prep last night, and the RR marlin spike is SO fitting for a lake-side vacation :rolleyes::

That's not an intake. Something comes out of there, about 100 per second at 3450 feet per second.;)

Thank GT :) I think you said your vacation knife choices were pretty accidental, but they turned out to good ones my friend :) :thumbsup:

Nice to see a Grohmann :) :thumbsup:

Cool Gev :cool: Is that a Richards or an Imperial? :thumbsup:

It's nice to have one, thanks to Duncan.
I'm always amazed by how it feels in hand.
