What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Good morning fellow knife enthusiasts!
That stainless lambsfoot is great!

Harness jack today.

I think I have used the scissors on this SAK more than the knife :).

Aint that the truth!
All kinds of grooming tasks.;)

Wow, a lot of sweet treats from the Rendezvous are being shown here. I'll dub this "Sweet Tooth Tuesday" and add my own "candy" (albeit not from the recent gathering, sadly): a Remington R1823 serpentine jack (1933-1935) with a Curtiss Baby Ruth Candy shield.

Ironically, there isn't a Baby Ruth bar in that picture.

Great old knife, Stuart! Lookit that there bone!

Grand finale of Brewerfest, my only custom slipjoint in Damascus (Rados due to the tight weave necessary on small blades) and preban crackle bark. Pile side is off the hook imo.

Been a treat seeing those masterpieces, John. Thanks for putting them up for our viewing!

You sure have some lovely old knives, kai. Just incredible jigging and color on the bone, and the swedge!:thumbsup:

Very knice pocket dump, sir.

Great everyday, all around carry, Steve. They really got it right with their large trappers.

And another wonderful trapper!:thumbsup:

... The first mystery is the maker. ...
Second mystery is the wood used for the covers (sorry for the screws @Chief ):

Can't give clues for either mystery, Stuart, but that's an appealing Barlow! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

That's not an intake. Something comes out of there, about 100 per second at 3450 feet per second.;)
I have the same problems with horses - can't tell which end is which. :rolleyes:

Impressive Imperial, Gev! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thank GT :) I think you said your vacation knife choices were pretty accidental, but they turned out to good ones my friend :) :thumbsup:
...
Thanks, Jack; when I start with 12 knives I'm carrying from the previous week, and grab another 6-8 knives "to go", I'm almost guaranteed to have some decent ones! ;)

Just checking in from Santa Fe. Hope everyone has a great week!.

Looks like you're eating well, Gary! :cool::thumbsup: I hope all aspects of your trip are just as enjoyable! :)

...
Thank you, Gary! Regarding your Case Caliber stockman, I have the same model. :thumbsup: Your RR Marlin spike is gorgeous and undoubtedly useful when needed.
Thanks for the encouraging words, Dean. :) What's your assessment of the Case Caliber stockman?

Today's carry - Tidioute Ancient TC spear and Case Peanut.

Peerless pair, Dean! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Zesty knife, Dave! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Nice choices, GT, I like the Case Calibers, and that marlin spike could solve some of my rope knot headaches.

Thanks for the kind words, Stuart; that locking marlin spike is an interesting all-purpose probe. :)

That's the one. I just had to figure out how to repair the flaw. I made more room in the tang for the end of the spring. Now its fine and I really like it. It's light, easy to carry and has enough blade for light everyday tasks. Looks nice too.
:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

They must be very light in the pocket, and for that price you don't mind abusing them a little.
They seem light without liners; I'm quite happy with them (although they'll not win many pocket knife beauty contests). :)

...
I like the Riders. A marlin spike is on thing I lack.

Gary, DIS-assembly is easy! It’s putting it back together that makes me feel like a bumbling hack.:eek::oops:o_O

Like you, 54 is but a memory for me! I meant a GEC #54 Big Jack.
But you are the current leader in wishing me an early Happy Birthday!:D
(Late December;))
Thanks, Jeff. Looks to me like you're doing just fine with getting your knives back together! :thumbsup::cool:
I was just kidding you about the birthday - I knew 54 was the knife model. :p But I'll try to keep that December birthday in mind - I was born 12/19. ;)

Carried these 2 for the last couple of days when traveling back from the Rendezvous .

Outstanding color on both of those, Harry; congrats!! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Glad you had a safe and enjoyable Rendezvous trip. :)

Thanks, Joshua. :) That golden gunstock is something to carry proudly.
Hey, here's something you might be able to use in your logic class. I bought some beer the other day (Keweenaw Brewing Level 92) whose label identifies the style of beverage as "Black India Pale Ale". Strikes me as contradictory! :D

Very dapper stockman, Paul, with the dark ebony and silver hardware! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Sweet music, Jack! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

... couldn't find my Case 6208 penknife anywhere. It was in my shorts pocket (the ones I was wearing) - guess it's wanting to be carried today. A bit premature senior moment! OH

Glad you eventually located that practically perfect penknife, OH! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Mellow Yellow, Jeff! :thumbsup::cool::cool: (Listened to Donovan's Greatest Hits today. ;))

I've been saving this knife for this special occasion. It's the RR Canoe that I won from my fellow math teacher and great all-around Porch Member, 5K Qs 5K Qs . It's begging to be the first carry of the school year and will forever remain in my collection as a favorite. Not to mention that it rides so well in the watch pocket, hardly know it's there. And it meets the non-locking, 2-1/2" blade maximum that the law allows for campus carry in California.

I hope you have a great day every day this year, John! :):thumbsup: And I'm honored that you'll carry that RR stag canoe! :cool::cool: Certainly not very high quality stag, but a canoe is a wonderful pattern IMHO (I own more canoes than any other single pattern) and my undiscriminating taste is quite happy with stag of any ilk, especially when it's apparently becoming harder to come by. (I have a canoe with me that wouldn't pass muster in your building though, since it has a lockback blade.)

RR 5 blade sow belly...

Lotta blade options in that bad boy! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

...
Case walnut stockman.
I think that's one of Case's prettiest offerings in the almost 4 years that I've been paying attention to current folder offerings! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup:

That emerald Churchill is a real jewel, Ron! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: Sounds like you had another amazing Rendezvous experience! :):thumbsup::cool:

I think I have used the scissors on this SAK more than the knife :).

I was amazed how often I use the scissors when I started carrying a Vic Classic and then my current Minichamp! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Breathtaking, Nick! :eek::cool::thumbsup:

Does Joker, a Spanish knife maker, use English words for dog breeds to name their models?? :confused:

Oh man, a lot of catching up to do. Today's carry is a factory assembly from this year's Rendezvous.

Awesome, Ken! Congrats on the special green Churchill! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: How did you like attending the Rendezvous?

This week I'm carrying this Rite Edge Barlow

Beautiful, as always, Steve.

Great old knife, Stuart! Lookit that there bone!

Thanks, Jeff. I'm going on a diet.

Can't give clues for either mystery, Stuart, but that's an appealing Barlow! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks, anyway, GT. It fits my needs and pockets, but it's sort of a mongrel. You are one of the cherished few who liked it.

That's a unique and intriguing knife, Stuart! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Thanks, it is hard to resist, and I don't like sweets.

This week I'm carrying this Rite Edge Barlow

That is a sweet one, too, GT.
