What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Day off today so I've been carrying one of my favorite 8OTs I call "Bigfoot".

Hey! You can't sneak that one past me, nosirree!
Is it modified? A rare factory prototype? A model that I never knew about?
That looks sooooo usable.

My 70th, this next Friday, was the loving cause for my three adult children, spouses, and five grandchildren to take my wife and I out to an early celebration. When my special dessert was served, a decadent and delicious warm fudge pie, with chocolate sauce and ice cream, the first thing I thought of was...Knife Image. I’ll say 2 things. No Knife was hurt in the making of this image, and...”there’s no fool like an old fool.”:)

Is that backdrop a remnant of Florence? Glad that you seemed to have made it through the wind and rain, now the flooding.

I'm not a proponent of culinary chores with folders, but your picture made me think again about that. You have outdone yourself and your always excellent pictures with that fabulous photo. Kudos and thanks. Oh, and Happy Birthday with wishes for many more happy ones.

What a wonderful photo :D :) Hope you have a fab 70th my friend :)

First of all, let me wish you an early Happy Birthday with many healthy ones to come.
Now, maybe it's the device I am viewing this on, but this image of your Ancient Barlow on top of dessert looks like a skillfully executed painting, yet it is a photo???

Looks like a terrific trio, Jeff!:cool::thumbsup: What sort of treatment did you give to the wood on the Opinel to make it glisten like that??:thumbsup:

Bailed non-SAK this week is this Colonial Electrician:

I had to go look in the cabinet in the garage. I used high gloss, marine grade polyurethane varnish from JC Penny. The little 1/2 pint can is probably 40 years old.

Glad to see that fetching colonial again!

When I woke up this Twofer Twosday, it was raining felines and canines so I looked for a pair that I could safely carry in the damp (can't stay indoors any longer). I found these: a Case 054 lockback (1989) and a Bertram "Hen & Rooster" (1975-1980 while owned by A.G. Russell), both with brushed aluminum covers and stainless blades/springs. They are 3 1/8" and 3 1/4", respectively, and the Bertram is 1/8" thick.

I had to take the pictures inside due to rain which has just stopped, giving way to partly sunny skies. Time to hay the yard.

CORRECTION: I looked at the knives again and both are skeletons. Both frames are aluminum; there are no covers, hence the slimness. This is the peril of posting in haste. - Stuart

It is the only way I could think of to get all the cars that I wanted but couldn't afford.... the only legal way anyhow. ;):D

I had plenty of mundane chores that I should have been doing but I managed to avoid them by hiding in the shop. :D

I carried the Opinel today. It carries a lot better in the pocket that it used to.

Boy does hiding in the shop sound familiar.
Good mod, those round handles feel ok in the hand, but not the pocket.
Has been a long day . Short drive from Butte , Montana to West Yellowstone , Montana and went into Yellowstone Park .
Carried these 2 today :

Somewhere south of Butte .

Saw a few herds of Antelope

Saw Robber's Roost

Saw where they HUNG George Ives in Virginia City

Some old Gold Mining equipment in Virginia City

Went into Yellowstone and very quickly saw some Elk

Drove over to see the Yellowstone Falls and Canyon

On the way out we ran into a Buffalo Traffic Jam

All together we were in 2 Buffalo Traffic Jams for a total of 1.5 hours

Great job sharing your trip with us! I knew you’d have your Orchard Pal (do I have the name right?) along with you.

Reminds me of a family vacation 25+ yrs ago. We drove the long loop around Custer National Grasslands in SD and stopped to watch a huge herd of bison. They came directly toward our old Chevy, and parted like the sea for Moses- flowing right around us, gently bumping and rocking the car. Later, we found hairs stuck in the trim and grill.

I can't imagine anything will be kicking out my new 14 from my pocket for the next little while. I flushed it out and re-oiled it this morning, and now the walk and talk is super great. It wasn't bad before, just came with a hair of a gritty feel. Now it snaps and clunks open and closed commandingly with a very satisfying 6.5 or so pull.
