It's a lockback which opens with a traditional nail-nick. It fits just fine.

Going for an evening hike and picnic dinner of Thai takeout (it's my turn to cook ;) ). Bringing these two with me... and a flashlight.

Victorinox Gardener today.

that is a pretty common knife on keychains around here. all of the commercial fishing supply places carry them. The ones locally have the keyring on them.

I am still carrying the Queen #3 as I have for several months now...

It's interesting you say that. The only place I've seen it in person for sale was at a big box retailer as part of a two knife combo pack. SAKWiki refers to the Gardener with a keyring as the Twine Knife.

The Twine Knife model is nearly identical adding just a keyring attachment to the tools. This model may have different names in the different markets, and appears more often marketed with the Kitchen knife line. A serrated-blade version of the Twine Knife may have also been available, but this is unconfirmed.

Is it sold as the Gardener in the supply stores you mentioned? I don't think I'd carry one on my keys (a bit too long for my taste in that role) but I'd like one with a keyring so I could add a fob to it. I'll have to hunt around some more to see if any stores around my area might carry it. I find it to be a very good and simple all purpose knife.

Vanguard, that's a great looking Primble. I try and try to find old knives like that and have only gotten luck once. The hunt continues.

First knife I bought with my own money, would have been about 13 and remember thinking it was a fortune! Beautifully made knife if I remember rightly. Can't believe I gave it away:(

#73L today

I don't know if it is. It might be the twine knife. We always called the Baker's knife a "twine knife" :D http://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=BakersKnife

I have to go pick up some runners for my lobster traps today or tomorrow so i can check on the name. they are usually sold out of the bulk boxes with no packaging. My guess is the SAK wiki is right about the names and I'm not. I had never seen the Gardener in person until I saw them at Target in the 2 pack. I saw the ones with the keyrings 20 years before I ever saw a Gardener :D

Anyway...I'm still carrying the Queen today to keep it on topic :D
