What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Like @Jack Black , I'm inspired by @kai76 , and also by SteveC SteveC , to carry pen knives and old ones, at that. For Twosday, I'm totin' these two together: an Ulster (876-1941) on top and a U.S. Cutlery Co. (1920-1940) on bottom.

Consolidating my old military stuff and came across these two items. Technical Sergeant Ferguson didn't make a lot of money in 1983, and was happy to get this free stainless lockback that came with a Smith and Wesson wheel gun. You can see the S&W logo lightly stamped. Carried / used / abused this knife while pulling alerts at Titan II missile silos, found it stored in my old alert Technical Order satchel pocket.

That's gorgeous knife overload, Stuart! :thumbsup::thumbsup: Love the Case knives and the Queen Barlows and especially the Coffin Jacks.

Hope everyone's week has got off to a good start :) I'm pocketing these two days, an old Alfred Blackwell Lambsfoot I was gifted by @rockman Rob, and a Crown Penknife by Harrison Fisher :thumbsup:

That's an absolutely stupendous pen knife, Jack!

Great pics of a marvelous red/blue pair, Dean! :cool::thumbsup::cool: What's the other knife in the running for your EDC?

Alox SAK of the Week is a Vic Cadet II (thanks, Ken):

Thanks, Gary! The other knife in the running for EDC is my Case Swayback Jack. :)

You Vic Cadet II is a true treasure. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Old Engineer Old Engineer Harry, I love your TEW! The covers on it look similar to a Joseph Rodgers & sons I have which I decided to carry today along with my good ol Schrade pen knife.

That is a beautiful pen knife! :thumbsup::)

That is a really neat knife, Gev. To honor your comment and photo, I present the following.

The Voos is loose! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Thanks for bringing such a grand pair of knives to my home state, Jeff! And later you show Mr. Peabody, who's coal train is celebrated in a John Prine song, but who also, along with his boy Sherman, was one of my favorite time-traveling, history-teaching cartoon dogs! ;)
I understood every one of those references. :)

An old Camper clad in new bocote, featuring the world's slowest photo-bomb.

That Damascus and blue Teardrop looks great, RDaneel!

This one bit me today on the tip of my thumb while peeling an apple. 1/16" 440C sharpened to 15dps makes for a clean and effortless cut. :confused:

Thanks, Shawn! The bite of a knife is bittersweet; I never let go of one that has cut me. It seems to be a bond with me. Your knife is beautiful with good lines. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Gorgeous Catt barlow! Great warm color tones on the bone.

That you very much for the kind words concerning my TEW . That is a nice looking pair you are showing . The Jigged Bone on your Rodgers does indeed look similar to the bone on my TEW , complete with the worm tracks .

Dave, you can just "Leave it to Beaver"! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Hey, now!! THAT'S a knife and a half right there, John! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: Exquisite bone, EO, sheepsfoot - what more could you ask for !

:D Important lesson, indeed! :p
Thanks for the scrimshaw mention. :)

I see (and appreciate) what you did there, Ken! ;):thumbsup::cool: Obligatory Churchill quote: "A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject."

Definitely a sunny, slim selection, Stuart! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

That's a notable, nostalgic knife, Steve! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Captivating, curvaceous couple, Nick! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, Dave. :) If I were better at taking pics, you'd see that there's actually a brown leather thong attached there. :rolleyes:

Thanks, Dean. :)

Great pics of a marvelous red/blue pair, Dean! :cool::thumbsup::cool: What's the other knife in the running for your EDC?

Thanks for the ringing endorsement of the ring-opener, Tom. :) As always, my heart rate spikes when I see your orange/black combo! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks for the confirmation, Alan. :) It's nice to guess correctly every now and then. :rolleyes:

Majestic mod, Jeff! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Dwight, you sure have impressive photos of a lot of delectable knives!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Cool photo! :cool::cool::thumbsup: Do you actually use that reel mower?

Thanks, Stuart. :) My daughter has given me several Spanish knives over the years, including three purchased at the workshop of Mariano Zamarano in Toledo (but actually made elsewhere by Spanish companies) that are similar/identical patterns with different covers: wood, white synthetic, and stag. The stag I posted was the most recent, last Christmas. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Simple, but sublime, Spaten Spaten !! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I sure do! Splendid duo, Joshua. :cool::cool::thumbsup:

:thumbsup::D

Sensory Overload!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup::cool::cool: Magnificent groupings, Stuart! :cool::thumbsup:

Thanks GT! That Forest-Master looks to be in great shape for a knife of nearly 60. :thumbsup::cool:

Gorgeous Catt barlow! Great warm color tones on the bone.

Thank you! Lovely bone covers on both the Lambsfoot and the Crown pen. The Crown shadow pen is just beautiful, it’s a real good one!

Awesome pair of old pens Stuart! Love that Ulster. I’ll glad to have inspired you and @Jack Black to tote these beauties today. More old pen knives please!!!

Thanks GT! With those 3 multi-tool/camp knives you’re toting, you probably won’t need another pocket knife for the rest of your life. But who doesn’t need more knives??
