What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

...
6hours on the road yesterday to my sister and brother-in-law’s place in Michigan. They bought what used to be an old church camp on 100 acres with National Forest all around. It’s a really nice place to hang out and walk in the woods. A bit rainy, so not going to even try to catch some fish, but it’s warm, and the leaves are starting to turn.
I had Mr. Voos and his buddy Bullnose along for the ride.

The Voos is loose! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Thanks for bringing such a grand pair of knives to my home state, Jeff! And later you show Mr. Peabody, who's coal train is celebrated in a John Prine song, but who also, along with his boy Sherman, was one of my favorite time-traveling, history-teaching cartoon dogs! ;)

Dave, you can just "Leave it to Beaver"! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Hey, now!! THAT'S a knife and a half right there, John! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: Exquisite bone, EO, sheepsfoot - what more could you ask for !

Thanks GT! I took a small course on fungi last year and learned an important lesson: you can eat each type of fungus at least once :D

I always love to see your scrimshaw stockman, it seems to age nicely :thumbsup::cool:
:D Important lesson, indeed! :p
Thanks for the scrimshaw mention. :)

I see (and appreciate) what you did there, Ken! ;):thumbsup::cool: Obligatory Churchill quote: "A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject."

Still totin' light today with another half congress; this one a Queen City (1922-1932) in Waterfall celluloid. At 3 1/2", it's slightly shorter than yesterday's version, and just as slim.

That's a notable, nostalgic knife, Steve! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

A HSB pen and an Ulster dogleg jack today.
Captivating, curvaceous couple, Nick! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

I like it GT :thumbsup::) is that an eyelet for a lanyard on the butt?
Thanks, Dave. :) If I were better at taking pics, you'd see that there's actually a brown leather thong attached there. :rolleyes:

That's a nice looking ring opener that Jack gave you! :thumbsup:
Thanks, Dean. :)

Monday's carry.

Along with it I'm carrying one of two knives that is vying for EDC. This one is a great size to carry everyday in my keys pocket.
Great pics of a marvelous red/blue pair, Dean! :cool::thumbsup::cool: What's the other knife in the running for your EDC?

Thanks GT! It will likely take a few nights for the Barlow, M390 holds a good edge for a long time but can be a bear to re-profile by hand. That ring-opener is super cool :cool: :thumbsup:

For today, two of my most used.

Thanks for the ringing endorsement of the ring-opener, Tom. :) As always, my heart rate spikes when I see your orange/black combo! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks for the confirmation, Alan. :) It's nice to guess correctly every now and then. :rolleyes:

Nick, I absolutely adore that HSB tip-bolstered serpentine pen, so elegant! I've got my old modified #73 jack today.

Dwight, you sure have impressive photos of a lot of delectable knives!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Cool photo! :cool::cool::thumbsup: Do you actually use that reel mower?

Word play well played, GT. Touche'. I've seen a Spanish knife gifted to you by your daughter, but this looks different. New/another/I'm going batty? That is a very fine looking knife, and you are a lucky man.

Thanks, Stuart. :) My daughter has given me several Spanish knives over the years, including three purchased at the workshop of Mariano Zamarano in Toledo (but actually made elsewhere by Spanish companies) that are similar/identical patterns with different covers: wood, white synthetic, and stag. The stag I posted was the most recent, last Christmas. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Yes. It was made for Hoffritz Cutlery which had many retail stores in NY and I imagine other places. The unusual aspect of mine is the same scene is on both sides.
Very nice. I have a similar one with a pocket watch attached. It was a gift from my wife to her father when she was much younger, and he treasured it. He died in 2007, and my wife recently gave it to me. My turn to treasure it.

I like the idea behind those BMs, was there a Red Micarta one too? I think though, that it might be better not as Sabre ground. Nice pairing though:thumbsup:

Thanks, Will. They did/do make a red micarta, but I don't think it looks quite as good. They also have a "sheepsfoot" which is more like a cross between a sheepsfoot and a drop point or wharncliffe. I haven't done much slicing with it, but I have seen some of them reground to FFG by Krein. I'm sure that improves the slicing ability, but I plan to make it a yard knife, so slicing won't be as important for me as a sturdy edge.

I reprofiled the butt because the curve was a little sharp for where my pinky hit. I also put a tiny swedge on the clip, which improves the aesthetics a bit.

Gorgeous Catt barlow! Great warm color tones on the bone.

You have a wonderful collection Nick :) You've inspired me to carry another penknife today :thumbsup:

Hope everyone's week has got off to a good start :) I'm pocketing these two days, an old Alfred Blackwell Lambsfoot I was gifted by @rockman Rob, and a Crown Penknife by Harrison Fisher :thumbsup:
Thank you! Lovely bone covers on both the Lambsfoot and the Crown pen. The Crown shadow pen is just beautiful, it’s a real good one!

Like Jack Black Jack Black , I'm inspired by kai76 kai76 , and also by @SteveC , to carry pen knives and old ones, at that. For Twosday, I'm totin' these two together: an Ulster (876-1941) on top and a U.S. Cutlery Co. (1920-1940) on bottom.

Awesome pair of old pens Stuart! Love that Ulster. I’ll glad to have inspired you and Jack Black Jack Black to tote these beauties today. More old pen knives please!!!

Captivating, curvaceous couple, Nick! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
Thanks GT! With those 3 multi-tool/camp knives you’re toting, you probably won’t need another pocket knife for the rest of your life. But who doesn’t need more knives??

@Old Engineer Harry, I love your TEW! The covers on it look similar to a Joseph Rodgers & sons I have which I decided to carry today along with my good ol Schrade pen knife.

Thanks.
I will be using this 60's craftsman when I finish repairing it, it will replace the crappy modern one I'm currently using.
