What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today, again with my beautiful French whale...

I really like that pattern :)

Shades of Tiny Tim! (not the Dickens character)
That book does contain Tiptoe through the Tulips, because of Tiny Tim's 1968 hit with it, though it was written earlier. I saw some Laugh-in reruns not so long ago. Although the show was topical, nothing seems to have changed in fifty years except the dollar-amounts of the scandals.

Canoe of the Week is a Buck jigged bone model (thanks, Clay):

Free Choice Knife of the Week is another canoe, a Böker Beer Barrel model:

A great pair of Canoes Gary! That Buck from Clay is a beautiful knife and hard to find. I have thought of Clay and I hope he and his family are well! :)

This thread just flies by! I had to back up several pages to find yesterday's posts and catch up on "thank yous". Thanks, guys. Pen power!! An Imperial and a Union just for good measure (and to replace that big trapper in my pocket).

Stuart my friend, that’s two beautiful oldies! Thanks for sharing them!

The yellow saw cut bone 77 today. Have had 8 inches since morning. Shoveled the roof slide off my deck and re stocked my bird feeder for the finches:thumbsup:

Our renters deck for now:eek: I'd say 3ft in front of his door:)

Bird's lined up impatiently waiting their turn:p

Paul, your NF Barlow is outstanding, the birds are lovely, but your weather is a different story my friend! Our best to you and the missus! :)

A 1965 case 06247PEN two bladed pocket knife
Hello and welcome! The Case 06247 is one of my favorite Case patterns. It a shame it was discontinued! ;) We would all like to see a picture!

Cloudy and rainy day here today so I was inside cracking Hickory Nuts and using this old Camillus 4 line . Still a very solid knife and took a great edge for me .

Harry
Harry that’s a great old Camillus my friend! The Starrett box is cool too! ;) :D

I’m carrying my Buck Canoe on a somewhat rainy morning! :)

Clean and classy lines on that pattern, Will!:cool::thumbsup:

Ebullient ebony, and the sleeveboard's covers remind me of knit socks I once admired! ;):thumbsup::cool:

Wow, Dwight, that Barlow has a name brimming with confidence, but they say you may talk big as long as you can back it up! ;):cool:

GEC #15 in Ebony
Very dignified, classy knife, John!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Some big knives for the Big Woods, Jeff!:thumbsup::cool:

Hurricane #2 and it looks like it will skirt past us here again. Hopefully the folks in its way will be safe!
I'm thankful it mostly missed you, Joshua, and will pray for the safety/recovery of those who get hit harder.

Nothing bashful about that big fella!!:thumbsup::cool:

At first I thought that was Betty catching some rays, but I don't think those are Betty's bolsters after all. Still a knife to batter down the gates, though!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Satin bolsters look good but I prefer polished.

Pareidolia face on the left is a little creepy … Halloween coming!

GEC14ironwood-5.jpg

Extreme close up shows a little nose and mouth inside the larger one eyed's mouth … now that's really creepy.

GEC14ironwood-6.jpg
Fantastic ironwood knives, Chief, and I'm always happy to learn a new word. :)
I'll echo @r8shell's comments, Chief; that was a welcome new word to me, too! :):thumbsup::cool: @Peregrin has a knife with a very creepy face on it. Maybe there should be a Halloween thread for knives showing this phenomenon.

Fantastic pair, Alan,:thumbsup::thumbsup: that must provide some consolation for the end of the Yankees' season.

Ebony Churchill today

Exemplary knife, Steve!:cool::thumbsup: Churchill himself said, "I am easily satisfied with the very best", and I think that applies here! ;)

...
Just one pen for me today.
Literally stunning, Nick; that pen is mightier than the sword! ;):thumbsup::cool:

Today's carry includes two knives for wooden Wednesday and my other tryout for EDC (Swayback Jack).

What a tremendous (and colorful) trio, Dean!:thumbsup::cool:

I've been focusing on my swaybacks lately, so I decided I'd better put this one in my pocket today. I always think of this one as having a bit of extra flair: something an elegant English gentleman might have carried in the late 1800s.

"Oh Jeeves, draw my bath then lay out my tweeds and my walking stick. I feel like going for a bit of a stroll this afternoon. And be sure to set out my burnt amber bone swayback gent. Can never tell when I might need to slice a piece of fruit or cut a switch to teach those street urchins some manners!"

"Very good, sir. As you wish, sir."

You have quite a rich fantasy life, Ace! :D:thumbsup::D And a fantasy knife, too!:cool::thumbsup:

...
Thanks Gary! And just for the record, your canoes really float my boat!;):D:thumbsup:
I appreciate your remark, Ken! :)

Thanks, Gary! Your Boker Canoe is reminds one of an amber brew.
...
Thanks, Dean :); I've had my eye on a Beer Barrel canoe (as well as other knives in that series) for quite sometime, and finally acted (when I was sure it was not simply an impulse ).

So many memories that brought back ! What a life. Thank you, Gary ! I knew you were a bad boy ;)
You're welcome, Gev. :) But I identify with the singer of the song, who takes the high ground despite the shabby treatment he receives from little Susie, who's the real "bad boy" in the story! :D

Thank you very much GT, Nick kai76 kai76 definitely deserves the credit for the penknives :) Classy couple of Canoes there companero

Early start for me tomorrow, but I'll try to leave the house well-heeled ;) This is my plan - 2018 Guardians Lambsfoot in horn, and this Sleeveboard, which was made in Sheffield for a Liverpool hardware merchant, and a gift from our old pal Stephen @Old & In The Way :)

Thanks for the canoe comments, Jack. :) Your heraldic horn lambsfoot is high-class, but that Kelly pen is a real dreamboat!:thumbsup::cool:

Pen power indeed, Stuart; your provocative pen pair is preternaturally potent!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Paul, your knife is SO right :cool::thumbsup:, and your weather is SO wrong :(:eek:!

Here's the carry for that ukelele class at a church. One might have had to tighten a tuner.
f3bAwm9.jpg
I like the black/yellow combo!:cool::thumbsup: You can play The Turtles' "Happy Together" on the ukulele?? That was a most favorite song when I was an unabashed optimist in high school!

Finally finished the edge on this Shuffler. Probably took 2 1/2 hours total, spread out over 3 nights, to reprofile the edge to 30 degrees inclusive and finish sharpening it. I am much happier with the way it slices now. For my meager skills, this steel takes some time and patience to change the edge angle.
...
That paper indicates that I have a LOOONG way to go on my sharpening skills, Tom!:( Impressive work on the edge of your Lionsteel!:thumbsup::cool:

Newaygo County... do you know the area?

One other thing. I have no knives of this curious canoe shape. And I never felt deprived or lacking...
Until starting to look closely at yours, that is.
So while I enjoy yours vicariously, may I ask which was the one particular canoe that hooked you?
I live less than an hour almost due south of the town of Newaygo; I think my wife and a friend have a road trip planned for tomorrow visiting quilting shops up in that area (Newaygo, White Cloud, Hesperia, Fremont, Carson City, etc.)
The first canoe I ever had was in a dozen assorted Rough Riders I bought as one of my first knife purchases. My plan was to carry each knife for a week to see the pros and cons of each. The canoe (and a sowbelly stockman) ended up staying in my pocket for THREE consecutive weeks, and I thought, "Hmm!?!"

These today, finally remembered a theme day lol, also posted in Wooden Wednesday thread to
Tremendous timber triple, David! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

The uke is mostly about strumming chords in accompaniment rather than plucking melodies, so I suppose you can play any music in that sense.
The standard uke tuning has a high G string that replicates high notes available elsewhere instead of extending your range downwards. For reasons unknown to me. You can get a g an octave lower, but that would change all your chords, though I can't find any persuasive authority on how you'd convert them.

A certain large river tells me there are books on The Grateful Dead, Neil Young, and Bob Marley for uke. And the Beatles for finger-style uke, which I have yet to google but might mean plucking melodies.
And Ukulele Aerobics.

A little overloaded today, with A Wright and three Uticas.

Try lousiana crystal on your red beans. It’s milder flavor than Tabasco but I like the added vinegar flavor from putting more.
I finally found the Louisiana Crystal hot sauce. It's very good, but I do prefer Tabasco's flavour: more vinegar AND more heat. Also bought "The Original Louisiana Hot Sauce". Like them all!

Edit: pic has no connection to text. Added pic because that's what I'm totin' now!

Not a lot of variety here, either Franks Red Hot or Sriracha sauce. when one bottle is half empty then I will mix them together. :p
