It started out as an old, worn out Nicholson file~ 50 cents at a flea market.
I brought up images of Russel Canadian Belt Knives on the internet, and after a bunch of tries, came up with a drawing to make a template from. Then I slowly ground away the metal that did not look like a CBK.
Blade is 3 7/8”, cutting edge a bit under 3 1/2.
The handle scales are from a tree I helped cut down at my brother in laws about 20 years ago. I think it’s hawthorn but not sure. It’s extremely hard. I kept a couple chunks and sliced into boards with my chain saw. Stained in dark cherry and finished with several coats of boiled linseed oil.
