My new Boker.

Gorgeous little knife! May I ask what model it is exactly? Still available somewhere?

Hi, The maker is Hiroaki Ohta, a Japanese craftsman. If I remember correctly he calls this particular model his Small Camper. A web search will give you all manner of hits for him. I'll send you his email address.
I've had this little knife for many years, probably 7 or more. A few months ago the backspring broke. I contacted Hiro and sent him the knife (to Japan). He had it back to me in 17 days, as good as new, no charge. I, and many others who frequent these forums, hold him in high regard.

I think, if I buckle down and get those Christmas cards done today, and into the mail, they will get there in time.
I’ve decided that one of these days, when I get around to it, I’m going to stop procrastinating.View attachment 1039334Cheerful yellow delrin for me today.

LOL! :D I got the last of mine off in the post today :rolleyes Cool pic Jeff :)

Thank you Jack.

So far the only thing I've seen coming out of the mist has been whitetail, but I'm gonna keep a watch for the ball players...:D
...
Keep your camera handy, Dwight; I'd love to see some pics if those boys show up! ;):thumbsup:

Holub was an electrical supply house in Sycamore, Illinois ~ about a 45 minute shot straight south of me. It's most likely that Gary's TL-27 (civilian version of the 29) was made by Camillus.
And ditto on his canoes!
Thanks, Jeff. :)

That's a Recruit with a serrated main blade. The little pirate hangs out of a pocket slip but rides inside my pocket. I looked for a example pic but everything I found had I inappropriate knife in the pic.

Your bolded statement is my daily mantra. Thanks for the Recruit/fob info.:)

Your ebony 14 is turning into the Forrest Gump of knives, showing up in all kinds of unexpected settings!:cool::p

I'm totin' a couple of "different" knives for a freaky Friday carry: Queen #2 serpentine jack and a Queen #36 lockback (which is one of the few lockbacks that Queen made, as well as one of the few bareheads and high carbon steel (1095?) bladed knives they made - it wasn't in their catalog for long). Both are from 1961-1971 and have Delrin Winterbottom covers. (See edits below) Queen was able to make Delrin look pretty good. When fertilizer companies started bidding the price of bone up and government embargoes stopped importation of bone in the late 1950s, Queen had Rogers NMfg. Co. make molds of the real Winterbotttom bone for future conversion to synthetic covers. Queen converted to Delrin in the late 1960s, I understand.

EDIT: After further handling of these knives following this post, I believe that the covers are actually real bone, and not Delrin. I'll leave the Delrin info intact, but wanted to make this correction. Apologies to Delrin fans.

More quality Queens, and more intriguing info!!:cool::cool: Thanks, Stuart. Have you ever considered starting a thread as a repository for all the facts you discover as you research your knives?

Happy Friday!

View attachment 1037713 View attachment 1037714 Haven't been here in a while, thought I'd stop in. I picked up this one recently. The pearl is outstanding. (as requested Harry @Old Engineer)
Congrats on that absolutely dazzling Bulldog pearl copperhead, Tom!!:eek::cool::thumbsup:

This is why I should always carry a utility knife.
Some friends from church, with two little boys from Nigeria just bought their first house. Money’s tight, so Mrs. Santa Fleschwund put together a big sack of toys for Christmas presents.
I went to deliver them to find their water heater was out, they had no tools, and no idea of what to do.
Well, many years ago, I hauled propane and was certified in gas appliances.
With the help of this nearly 70 year old Pal TL29, I fixed it. Getting up off the floor was the hardest part.:oops:
Like 99% of these service calls, the problem was rust particles and soot on the thermocouple and in the burner. Plus, their flux capacitor was acting up, and the flam shooter needed calibration, of course.

Gratuitous shot of the heroic old veteran called back into service...View attachment 1037777Love my TL29s!
Good story and good deed, Jeff!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Enjoying all the Northfield 85's that have been posted so I grabbed mine from 2016:thumbsup:

I would never accuse you of mindless repetitive redundant reiteration.
I did survive a lot of teacher’s wit. A looong time ago.:(

Your post kinda reminds me of a story! :D

First the "Monday Morning" knife (carry big or go home):thumbsup::thumbsup:

Now the story...

Back on 13 April 1968, I found and bought my first electric guitar at a local antique/thrift/junk shop with the money I earned selling penny candy at school. At the corner store penny candy was 2 cents  or 3 for a nickel. Kids enthusiastically paid a nickel :D per gum/candy!

My dad wasn't exactly "HAPPY" and told me "NO AMP" until I knew/memorized "EVERY" note on the fret board.

I tore a page out of an old music book I had, and proudly determined, took it to school with me.

After my teacher caught me with it several times, she had me write in cursive (who remembers cursive???). ;)

"I will endeavor to limit my creative activities to a more appropriate time and place."

At 200 times per infraction, I must had written this at least 3000 to 4000 times in third grade alone! :p

Still have the guitar and obviously, will "NEVER" forget the sentence! :)
