What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Beautiful Desert Ironwood on that Whaler Dell !!! Do you carry that in your pocket or a sheath ??? I tried to carry mine in my pocket and found out that I had to hitch my belt up another hole .

Harry

Harry,

I ordered a piece of red CK goat skin leather along with the knife.

Basically I do a diaper type wrap around the knife and carry it in my back pocket.

If I carry it in my front pocket, I tie a leather string around the goat leather.

Seems to even out the weight of this beast in my pocket.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

PS. Don't make the mistake of buying large GEC belt sheath (it's nice, but way to tight!)

Hi, The maker is Hiroaki Ohta, a Japanese craftsman. If I remember correctly he calls this particular model his Small Camper. A web search will give you all manner of hits for him. I'll send you his email address.
I've had this little knife for many years, probably 7 or more. A few months ago the backspring broke. I contacted Hiro and sent him the knife (to Japan). He had it back to me in 17 days, as good as new, no charge. I, and many others who frequent these forums, hold him in high regard.
Here's the mark side of that knife, along with another one of his,

Thank you for your thorough answer. Great picture of gorgeous knives!

Harry, you should wear suspenders. :p
Well , I do in fact have suspenders , or braces , and did wear the on Dec. 8 , 2018 at one of my Granddaughter's wedding . First time since her sister got married a couple of years ago . I do have suspenders on my Carharts and use them when I have to get out to work in the cold . If I want carry my Whaler , I will think about it twice , and see if one of my Sheaths will fit it . But I do appreciate your extremely thoughtful suggestion my friend .

Del I keep popping the button on my jeans, so the wife took the button off, and sewed on velcro.:p:D

I'm gonna have a long talk with Mrs. Oro over Christmas, she just *will not* quit shrinking my jeans. :D

[edit] Also, isn't one bowl of regular ice cream considered "lowfat" when you're used to having two bowls?

Mrs. Oro and I differ on this ice cream thing. :p:D;)

Well, the thing is Harry, I have been contemplating purchasing a pair. But I'm to self-concise as you never see anyone around here wearing them
other than the boys in construction.

Del, That is what I affectionately call “Biscuit”! You are not seeing things, it’s exactly what you think it is. Here’s the story. :D

The minute I saw "Biscuit"...

That's a very unique and striking knife, what a wonderful way to honor your friend!

Thank you for the link, I enjoyed the pictures and every word written.

You and your family have a Merry Christmas,

Thank you, Harry.

I had to switch it out this evening for a very nifty oxhorn covered Peach Pruner that came in the mail from @Jack Black today. (along with a Sheffield keychain and some licorice :)) I tried to get a picture of it in the sun to show the translucency of the horn, but it's mighty hard to photograph. It has a much more golden/amber color than shows in the pics. I finished touching up the edge this evening, and it's oiled and ready to ride in my pocket tomorrow.

Thank you, Jack, what a wonderful Hanukah gift. :)
