What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I love the Buck 309 but all the examples I have show blade rap at the tip of the main blade- which is my #1 pet peeve for knife defects. As much as I love the construction and style of the knife, they always bother me. I finally was able to get a paper-thin sliver of g10 in under the kick on this one that is the perfect thickness to stop the blade while keeping the tip in the frame... really happy with this guy now and I've been carrying it the last week or so

I apologize for being so slow to thank y'all for you kind thoughts and comments.

Smashing piece !!!

Wow!!! what a GORGEOUS knife Stuart:cool::cool::cool:

Great looking knife !

Ditto to what they said!
What’s the closed length?

Thanks, guys. Jeff, that English Jack is 4 5/8" closed length and the clip blade is saber ground.

Love that "workers' rectangle" of wood and steel, Stuart!:cool::thumbsup:

Pair of Queens wins again, Stuart!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, GT.

Sorry you've had to go through that, Stuart. Been there too many times, and I wouldn't wish it on anybody.

So sorry to hear about your basement flooding Stuart, D Duckdog . I hope your amazing knife collection is high and dry!

Thanks, Jeff and Leslie. It wasn't as bad, after all, as I thought it might be. Limited to a portion of our "wine cellar" (a.k.a., storage area) that has linoleum tile and no knives. All dry now, though several days of rain are on the horizon.

More quality Queens, and more intriguing info!!:cool::cool: Thanks, Stuart. Have you ever considered starting a thread as a repository for all the facts you discover as you research your knives?

Thanks, GT. I can barely keep up with this thread, much less have the temerity to launch an informative one. Maybe later as I get better at identifying Delrin!

Who needs matching covers when each is so remarkable??:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks, GT. I do enjoy carrying that English jack for the reason, among others.

- Stuart

Thanks Jack. Green and Red actually, but it's hard to get a photo that shows the dark green color well.

Sorry about that John

Totin a pair of Northfields today! :)

Your Biscuit is a real treasure Ron

Thank you, Harry.

I had to switch it out this evening for a very nifty oxhorn covered Peach Pruner that came in the mail from Jack Black Jack Black today. (along with a Sheffield keychain and some licorice :)) I tried to get a picture of it in the sun to show the translucency of the horn, but it's mighty hard to photograph. It has a much more golden/amber color than shows in the pics. I finished touching up the edge this evening, and it's oiled and ready to ride in my pocket tomorrow.

Thank you, Jack, what a wonderful Hanukah gift. :)

I'm glad you like it Rachel :) I hadn't noticed it had that tang-stamp until I saw your pic. Hope you like the liquorice, very traditional in Yorkshire, where liquorice-growing was established by the 16th century. In West Yorkshire, where I live now (Sheffield is in South Yorkshire), it was traditionally known as 'Spanish'

Jack is one of the best!:cool:

Thanks mate! :D

I'm also carrying some golden horn today, in the form of this Lambsfoot :)

Along with the ebony #15 Randy kindly gifted me a while back (along with the arrowhead) :)

Fine Pruner, isn't the Cat eyeing those goodies..including the key-fob?:D

Isn't Panda Licorice from Finland;)?

Thanks, Will

Isn't Panda Licorice from Finland;)?

I'm not sure Will, it may well be, I don't eat a great deal, but it's about the best I come across here - apart from some really chewy stuff, which cost me a tooth  A few folks in the Lambsfoot thread were admiring a pic I took containing some recently, (hence the gift)

Edit - Yes, it is!: https://www.panda.fi/en/liquorice.html

The most traditional form here is Pontefract (or Pomfret) Cakes, but the last time I bought some they were fakes of the same shape, containing more sugar than liquorice :(

How do you get it to stay in there?
Super glue?
I have polished out a tiny bit of clearance from the pins or inside of the spring to prevent that, but your idea may not be as risky.

keeping with the golden horn today

They say he’s a jolly old elf, but I say he’s a sneaky one too. Caught him trying to get away with today’s carries!

Smashing Dave

No worries, it may have been the ebony one. It's getting so my eyes can't tell them apart.

LOL! :D I have a 'Valley Green Jigged Bone' #66, which appears black in some of my pics (depending on the lighting
