What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Greetings from Washington. We are almost to Seattle and having a lovelydrive so far. Washington greeted us with rainy weather as expected. The GEC #14 has only performed minor tasks along the way but I'm glad I chose it because I never get tired of carrying such a beautiful and functional tool.

tried to post a picture but failed :(

When you leave would you please take the rain with youo_O

One of the most under appreciated knives of the past decade. Made by Canal Street for Cold Steel. Due to lack of sales (most likely due to price) i doubt Lynn Thompson will ever do another high quality slipjoint.
Were there other slipjoints commissioned by Cold Steel or is this run the only ones they did?

We are down in Southern Indiana to visit relatives and I am carrying these 2 Bulldog Barlows .
Swayback Georgia in Green Jigged Bone with a Sheepfoot & Clip

And Curved Stag with a One Arm Razor & Pen

Harry
Never get tired of those Harry. They are gems indeed.

Thanks, JP! Hope you had a nice Christmas!

I imagine she’ll keep wearing that hat when we get back to Minnesota; she seems to have taken a real liking to it! :D

We headed down to the coast yesterday, visiting West Bay and Weymouth.

Fabulous pics Barrett. The 25 is really something and the last pic's use of color!... o_O

This Taylor Brand is a pleasant surprise. Inexpensive this knife is extremely well crafted. Impressive and deserves a nod.fullsizeoutput_d01.jpegfullsizeoutput_d15.jpeg

I’m as much a fan of beautiful hand-crafted knives as the next guy. This isn’t one of them.

This knife would never find a place in any self-respecting knife nut’s Instagram feed. I don’t know where it came from. I suspect my Dad (who is the frequent recipient of cheap knives from friends) may have given it to me during a visit several years ago. I stumbled across it when I was looking for something else last night and decided to drop it in my pocket this morning.

Fit and finish are poor, and the design lacks any semblance of grace. Nevertheless, at a whopping 21 grams (just under 3/4 of an ounce) it rides very lightly in the pocket, and it takes a decent enough edge.

I certainly wouldn’t want this to be my only knife, but it works. Crude though it may be, I think I kind of like it.

Thank you kind Sir !! Very handsome knife indeed.

This is the only time Cold Steel did a knife like this. They have made other slipjoints (see their "Lucky" pattern) but my understanding was they were specifically looking at the "old fashioned" market with this and since they still have stock years after the only run it's a blind alley for their marketing.

Model 73, 2007, green tea( re-dye'ed with black tea)
Nice job. Pardon the dumb question, but do you mean actual tea, or tea colored?
Or since we’re talking about tea, “coloured”:D

Well, even the homely, the less than well fit and finished, and maybe some hard miles on deserve some lovin.

Lucky for me.o_O

With the seeming surge in traditional knife sales in general, the place I bought the rough riders and Boker for Christmas presents is almost completely bare of traditionals today. The Boker and Buck sections of the cases was practically empty. When I bought a Schrade trapper at wallyworld, I had to buy the display, because the girl said they sell out of them really quick. Yet Cold Steel fails to move one traditional pattern, I agree their marketing plan on those must be pretty bad.

Here is my after work knife today. I may need that caplifter a little later.

Please do not tell my wife, but I think these are probably the only two knives I need. The rest are really superfluous.
I won't tell your wife if you don't tell mine, Leslie! ;)

Todays carry was Georgia :

Harry
That Barlow puts Georgia on my mind, Harry! ;):thumbsup:

I don't consider myself a single-blade fan, but your bone Sodbuster Jr is the epitome of style AND substance!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Appealing dark duo, Jeff!:cool::thumbsup: What's the shadow pattern??

I'm posting a bit later than normal today as I went out for a hike. Took these two with me :)

You sure have some extremely handsome knives, Dave!:thumbsup::cool:

Thanks, Gary! Not to worry! It's 51 and raining today. Some crazy weather here. Not unlike the stock market!
I can relate, Gary. The TV weather guy at 5am Friday said current temp was 53 (compared to -10 exactly 1 year ago), but it was snowing by 5pm! (As a recent retiree, I'm still trying to adjust to a different attitude toward stock market volatility!)

"Oh, the pain! The pain!"
:D:thumbsup::D

Thanks GT 5K Qs 5K Qs ! Love your rosewood lambsfoot—it may not be groovy, but its got curves and waves galore.
Thanks, Joshua. :)

...Your memory is impressive my friend :) Thank you, yes they were - in 2016 and 2018  Splendid trio there :)
Thanks for the tip o' the tam to my threesome, Jack. :) It was easy for me to remember the accolades for those knives because they're a couple of my favorites among the myriad marvelous knives you post here!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

A Black Friday carry on a dark, damp day.

Dave & Gev, your black bareheads are SO distinguished!:cool::thumbsup:

Thank you, GT! I adore your well-worn Camillus 21.
Thanks, Shawn. :) (Although I realize you're a sucker for the small ones! ;))

Thanks Dennis... the Carl Schlieper canoe rarely sees the light of day but decided to pocket it today since I have today off from work ;) It only comes out of the pocket to show people LoL :D
I don't blame you!
That's how I feel about this one, though not as artistic and scarce, I really like this one...

I think the biggest threat is GT 5K Qs 5K Qs :D
Kevin and Dennis, your canoes are sensational!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
And please don't hate me, but I'm definitely entering this info into my "who has what canoe" spreadsheet!! :D

I think the only knife I'm carrying this week that I haven't posted yet is a "free choice" selection that my daughter gave me for Christmas on Tuesday. It's an unbranded laguiole that she bought in Toledo, Spain and has been saving for at least 1.5 years. I've gradually learned a bit about the Spanish cutlery industry, so I did some online research and am quite sure the knife was made in China and imported to Spain by Martinez Albainox, who markets primarily inexpensive imported cutlery. But it seems reasonably well-made and has been very serviceable during food prep this week, and, most importantly, it's a thoughtful gift from my daughter!:cool::)

I've just returned from a deer-free deer hunt since this past Wednesday; all but 5 hours of shooting light were shrouded in rain or heavy drizzle. Still, it was fun to get outdoors and to see friends. I don't know if I can catch up on this or other threads, but will march forward from here. Making the case for stag today:
