What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

True, it isn't, but that's not jackknife either. I carried the Mutz canoe again today.

I have an old Columbia River trade knife with a beaver tail blade for a traditional-ish knife, I got it along with a HBC tobacco tin from Crazycrow about ten years ago. I would like to get the Hudson Bay Company knife from Condor. Love the old style blades and gear.

Kevin, I don't have any updated ones, but it looks pretty much the same as that picture. Most of the cutting I've done with it since the picture above has been on things that don't generally promote patina or staining. I haven't carried it much since then either, but I have been carrying it a little bit more lately. I'll shoot a new photo, but it will look pretty much the same. I'll be carrrying it again tomorrow; I'll shoot the other side of it as it is a bit different on that side with some green in the bone in a couple of places. It's a really nice knife. It just hasn't been able to keep that mini copperhead out of my pocket.

Thanks Ed :)

I look forward to seeing another shot when its convenient for you.

Sounds like a great knife. I love single blades and that one in particular is very nice.

Rick, this one in dark red jigged bone is the #406. They also make the same pattern in light brown jigged bone (#372), brown stag bone (#407) and yellow composition (#890). They are 3-3/8" closed.

Very cool Ed! I couldn't picture any green in the scales but it looks great. And I wouldn't have thunk it but I like the makers mark in the bolster as well. Very unique

Jeff, thank you for the info on the pattern numbers. I will likely get one.

Ed, it's good to see the other side of your Mutz Canoe. I do see some green up near the bolster. Lookin' good!

Today my old and trusty Case Stockman Chestnut Bone CV was with me...

The cute girl, which is working for postal service brought this today in the mail ... I´m carrying it right now - Case Peanut Chestnut Bone CV and a Vic Spartan black

While looking at the stockman handle and comparing it to the Peanut handle... the difference is very realizeable. The Stockmanhandle is much more worn out and smoother than that new handle of the 'nut. :)

Kind regards
Andi

Congratulations on the new arrivals Andi. The chestnut bone peanut is very close to the top position in my all time favorites.
