What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Well......... I'll ammend that quote slightly, as it's just my personal Top 5 list.

my Top 5 GEC's of all time

And if anybody has been counting, I think I've posted 4 of the 5 in the last week.

  1. Ironwood 2-blade Northfield 77 Barlow, SFO for @knifeswapper
  2. 43 Oregon Trapper in canvas micarta
  3. 15 Tidioute Soda Scout in paper micarta from the original Beer Scout Knife run, SFO for @knifeswapper
  4. 98 Texas Camp Knife in jigged bone, SFO for @waynorth
The last one hopefully won't be appearing any time soon in this thread, and I've never actually carried it. It's another 2-blade Northfield 77 Barlow SFO for @knifeswapper , but this time from the spear/coping run with stag covers.

This Barlow is so incredibly beautiful and well-crafted that I've never been able to actually do more than pull it out of the tube and admire it. It's absolute perfection in every possible way. When this run was made, Mike kindly posted individual pictures of each stag knife in his store, and sent a special URL to customers who pre-ordered, so they could choose their stag. I chose this one for my father-in-law, God rest his soul. It became the crown of his knife collection, and was passed on to me when he died. I remember him pulling it out of the tube at his dining room table, and gasping in awe. It was everything he'd ever wanted in a knife. It was a magical moment for both of us.

There will come a day when I feel so lonely and lost, and so in need of his wonderful guidance and wisdom, that I'll pull out this knife and begin to carry it, and somehow know what he'd tell me, and feel the love he always showed to me. This knife will help make that bad day bearable.

That is a very nice and very special 77 Buzz . Thanks for the photos .

Two for today, and headed into the weekend. As ever, the Camillus sits in my front right hand pocket. Riding in my left hand pocket is another one of my Top 5 GEC's of all time, the inimitable Texas Camp knife. It's so big that it makes the Camillus look like a child's toy. It also has maybe the best fit and finish of any GEC I've ever handled, which is extraordinary for a knife with this level of complication.

That's some great jigging on the GEC

Sitting here listening to the rain! I’m going with this duo today. A polished stag #25 NF Barlow from Mr. Latham and a Horn 2017 Guardians Lambsfoot from Mr. Black.
Oh my Ron. Perfect pair. And the horn....

Beautifully stated. I have a father-in-law like that.

Went to my Barlow Drawer this morning to pick out the carry for today
Now I know how Moses felt when God took him to the mountain top and let him look over into the Promised Land. :D

Enchanting.

Lucky man to have such a big and beautiful space to call your own.
We are blessed exponentially and infinitely. And I know from whence those blessings come. :)

Here are some very old quotes to which I intended to respond, but I lost them all when an operating system upgrade was "forced" onto my computer.

Great idea, Gary! Wonder if I should try the same with my glove. Don't use it anymore. I love baseball glove leather.
You should look your glove over and see if you see anything promising, Vince.:cool::thumbsup: Here's another "pocket slip" I found in the wrist strap of my old glove when I cannibalized it:

That's a nice tool and knife quartet you are carrying, Gary!

Thanks, Dean. :)

That's the one, GT. You don't need a fancy serpentine when there's work to be done.

Thanks, Stuart. :) Kingston seems to have been quite a short-lived company, according to what I've been able to find so far.

It’s always a treat to see your Stag Buck Canoe Gary! :)
Both are nice, GT, but I really fancy that Buck.

There is nothing wrong with celebrating Christmas all year round.
True enough, John. :) I just wish I had the foresight to set up my rotation so a Christmas knife show up around Christmas, as well as possibly other times through the year!:rolleyes: I guess that's something I can rectify with my "free choice" carries each week.

Just sportin' on a Saturday night.

I admire a man that sticks to a plan, even when it would be easy to just throw it back into the rotation.
