I thought that I was reasonably proficient with Camillus tang stamps until now. I've never seen that one before. Gorgeous knife.
MaybeSteveC has an idea?
That's such a stunner, Dave!
Thank you, my friend. That's such a stunner, Dave!![]()
Thank you! It’s the first Camillus I’ve seen with that stamp. I did look high and low online and so far found 2 more(also Camillus Sword Brand’s like mine) with that stamp but no info on when that stamp was used. Would love to hear from you Camillus collectors.
Really liking this 72 pattern a lot. Perfect size and blade combo. Feels great in hand. Been toting it the last 10 days or so and still haven’t cut a thing with it but have also been rotating my other user knives along with it for my cutting needs. It’s hard to find old bone ones especially unused like this one so the hunt is on for a couple or a dozen more user 72’s. Any of you folks here familiar with this Camillus stamp and can help me date it? Thanks!

Love the swayback, Gary!Great pics!
Something different for me today. I've had it awhile but don't carry it often.
3 1/4" Joel Chamblin Swayback. Great amber stag covers and CPM-154 blades. A fine little knife. Just what you'd expect from Joel.

Arrived monday, but gale wind and foul weather prevented to picture her before. Lovely curves of wood both side, blade perfectly centeredby far my n°1 nail breaker.

She def ruined my right thumb's nail and can't try the left one because it was victim of a fast closing (faster than me for sure) Laguiole.
Sorry , not a picture for the faint- hearted, keep children away.

Besides Austin Healeys, Land Rovers, and lambsfoot pocket knives, Barbour coats are one of my favorite British products. I was hoping to find one during our visit to Scotland. Anyone visiting Edinburg must seek out one or both of the Armstrongs surplus stores. I found this coat, which is made for today’s weather, for under the Pound equivalent of $50, as well as a heavy handknit wool sweater as well as several classic tweed snap brim caps. Now, I can celebrate my Scottish heritage in style.

Offhand, it looks like your knife has steel liners, which probably indicates a WW2 time frame, when no brass was used for just a few years. This was also when Camillus moved largely from bone to synthetic handle materials. It's also when Camillus switched from a long-used 4-line tang stamp to a 3-line tang stamp. Your knife could very well be from a period between those two stamps. Perhaps around 1944. At least that's my best guess.
