Most definitely Vince :)

Thank you very much Stuart :)

While I was in the Land of Nod, the Guardians thread passed 800 pages :) So I am celebrating with a Double Lambsfoot Day! :) Any excuse! ;) :D

No excuse necessary my friend.

Great pics!
Something different for me today. I've had it awhile but don't carry it often.
3 1/4" Joel Chamblin Swayback. Great amber stag covers and CPM-154 blades. A fine little knife. Just what you'd expect from Joel.

Really liking this 72 pattern a lot. Perfect size and blade combo. Feels great in hand. Been toting it the last 10 days or so and still haven’t cut a thing with it but have also been rotating my other user knives along with it for my cutting needs. It’s hard to find old bone ones especially unused like this one so the hunt is on for a couple or a dozen more user 72’s. Any of you folks here familiar with this Camillus stamp and can help me date it? Thanks!

I thought that I was reasonably proficient with Camillus tang stamps until now. I've never seen that one before. Gorgeous knife.

Maybe SteveC SteveC has an idea?

Thank you! It’s the first Camillus I’ve seen with that stamp. I did look high and low online and so far found 2 more(also Camillus Sword Brand’s like mine) with that stamp but no info on when that stamp was used. Would love to hear from you Camillus collectors.

Offhand, it looks like your knife has steel liners, which probably indicates a WW2 time frame, when no brass was used for just a few years. This was also when Camillus moved largely from bone to synthetic handle materials. It's also when Camillus switched from a long-used 4-line tang stamp to a 3-line tang stamp. Your knife could very well be from a period between those two stamps. Perhaps around 1944. At least that's my best guess.

This is worth reading:

Here's a chart, the best you can date is ballpark. Your knife is in such nice condition I'd be looking for a regular camillus 72 to use instead and preserve that old gem.

Love the swayback, Gary! :thumbsup::D

Buzzbait Buzzbait TheChunk91 TheChunk91 Thank you for the info guys, I appreciate it. It does have steel liners and handle pins too, unlike most 72’s. Rocker pin is brass. My ballpark guess is around 1946 or so just because the 72 first appeared in the 1946 Camillus catalogs. The blade configuration changed after that. I haven’t seen any Camillus catalogs prior to 1946 but obviously there were many patterns introduced before 1946 and the 72 could have very well been around before then. The 72 in the 1946 catalog has a matchstrike long pull but mine has a nail nick on the main sabre clip. I’ve seen very few others with nail nicks instead of the long pull. It’s also stamped 3025 on the back of the main blade and the bomb shield is also a scarce one on 72’s. I might be wrong but I believe the 4 digit stamp was used on Sword Brands because the only other couple times I’ve seen it used were on Sword Brands, not on regular cammies. To make it even more confusing, there is a “UNITED” etch on the main clip which I’ve never seen on 72’s.
TheChunk91 TheChunk91 Paul, yes I’m on the hunt for more 72’s and really want to keep this one unused but I just can’t leave home without it. Really hoping to find another one in bone.

Very nice :)

Arrived monday, but gale wind and foul weather prevented to picture her before. Lovely curves of wood both side, blade perfectly centeredby far my n°1 nail breaker.:)

She def ruined my right thumb's nail and can't try the left one because it was victim of a fast closing (faster than me for sure) Laguiole.
Sorry , not a picture for the faint- hearted, keep children away. o_O:D:D

Yikes JP!

I don't know about you guys but the voting threads are burning me out!

I haven't looked at any of them ;)

Besides Austin Healeys, Land Rovers, and lambsfoot pocket knives, Barbour coats are one of my favorite British products. I was hoping to find one during our visit to Scotland. Anyone visiting Edinburg must seek out one or both of the Armstrongs surplus stores. I found this coat, which is made for today’s weather, for under the Pound equivalent of $50, as well as a heavy handknit wool sweater as well as several classic tweed snap brim caps. Now, I can celebrate my Scottish heritage in style.

You got a bargain with that Barbour, mine cost me £200  I had my Barbour sweater on today too :)

Those two beautiful knives and many more like them have helped the Guardians thread build quite a head of steam Jack! A well deserved congratulations my friend! :)

These two favorites for Wednesday! :)

I haven't seen that one before either but I think that Buzz's guess is about the same as mine would be.
