What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

A little TC action on this fine Tuesday!

I don't normally care much for micarta on folders, nor hot dog shields, nor lanyards (especially purple ones!), but that's a pretty good looking knife.

I'm not a big fan of the hotdog shield either or micarta (unless it's on modern folders or fixed blades)but for this knife I think it just fits. I got it yesterday and it's quickly becoming my favorite trapper pattern I've had to date.

I've got a new one to ride with the Camillus today. This is a Case Mini Trapper in Stag Bone and stainless steel. I bought a couple of new Case knives in Tru-Sharp for the upcoming summer months, when I typically have massive rust issues. The Camillus hopefully won't be a problem, as I'll be using it and maintaining it every day. But I need a couple of other knives for the nightstand, that I won't have to worry about so much.

I honestly haven't been able to buy a bad Case knife lately. This Mini-Trapper is as sweet as the others I've recently tried. No spring gaps. Well centered blades. Pulls of between 4 and 5 with decent snap. Nice thin grinds of .018" to .020", with a wharncliffe that isn't too fragile at the tip. Not a hint of blade wobble. Best of all, the bone on this knife is wonderful. Good jigging and subtle coloring on bone that swells nicely at the center. The scales are much thicker than yellow Delrin or the usual Case jigged bone, and both covers match well in style and thickness. This bone stag gives you an amazing grip on a comparatively small folder. I really can't think of a bad thing to say about my Mini-Trapper. It's very nicely made, and the compliment of blades is extremely functional.
