What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Wow. I'd love to see a pic of your Dad's old knife.

My SwissChamp isn't that much different from your old Champion. It's just one layer larger, due to the pliers. The pliers are definitely limited by their size, but they're great for pulling staples out of cardboard boxes and working on electronics and other hobby stuff. There have been a few tool changes over the years, but not as many as you might think think.

Sorry- I was talking about Dad’s old Boy Scout Handbook For Boys. Sooo much stuff in there compared to modern ones.
I don’t think boys have changed, but something has.

So they added another layer for the pliers? When I get home, I’ll take a shot of my old ‘70s model to see if yours has all the same tools.

Thanks Tim! I do like the Osage Orange #47. It has a certain beauty all it's own! :)

Beautiful grain Harvey! :)

Thank you Jack! :)

Thanks Gary! :)

Great pairing Dylan! :)

I always love to see that #79 Ken! Great to see you back posting. Hey, it won't be long until the Rendezvous! :)
Thank you kindly, Ron.

Yesterday I mentioned that 6 of my knives this week are Rough Riders, and I posted pics of 3 of them. Here are the other 3 RRs I'm carrying all week.

Nice pair Stuart !

That come bottle is gorgeous, anything near that nice goes for more than I can afford to gamble on a knife from the Bay but I can dream about it at least.

Stuart, you are always pulling out gems! The jigging on your century old coke bottle is superb.:thumbsup:

D Duckdog Thanks Stuart! Excellent knives you have today, both are great but that 100 year old Crown coke bottle sure is amazing!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

That’s a great pair to spend the weekend with Stuart! The Queen is very nice! The Jigged Bone on that Crown is outstanding my friend! :)

What a fantastic pairing! Both are fine as frog hair Stuart.

D Duckdog Thanks, though I'd say your outstanding pair gave me a "tinge" of green :D

Stunning pair Stuart

Super-duper duo, Stuart; I especially like that Queen barlow!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, guys.

Nice work, GT.

For today I'm going with a pair of Jacks; an Imperial USN EO and a GEC 78 :)

That's a handsome honey-hued pair, JJ.

These two for me today, Hartshead Barlow and a #66 Stockman generously gifted to me by @Campbellclanman :)

Solid choices, Jack.

Dat's nice!!

Ah, Ha!! Getting all modern, now, are we? Seriously, that's a beauty, Steve (and good on Duncan, @Campbellclanman ).

Smooth Horn and Jigged Bone for Tuesday:D

That's a potent pair, Ron.

A very nice and useful photo of how your knives can ride in their sheaths, Dave. Thanks for sharing.

Very luscious picture of a lovely knife, Harvey, but it looks like you might have mice on the loose.

Continuing with my Lamb and Barlow carries today.

Whew, that's a pair!!!

Today with A. Wright & Son in stag

Excellent, José.

Yes, thanks, I did the scrimshaw. At the risk of showing it too many times:

Great work, r8shell. I'm glad that you took the risk with the squid (it look anatomically correct to me from here).

Acquainting with this recent find.

Nice old Empire jack, Nick.

Peanut-like Knife of the Week is a RR baby copperhead:

A lovely little knife, GT.

#78 today

More modern, eh? Can't blame you, as that wood is gorgeous.

Hartshead Barlow and a #44 Buffalo Jack today (Thanks @Campbellclanman ). Hope everyone is having a good week

Well, not as good a start as you seem to be having, Jack. Very well done, indeed.

Have a great Wednesday! :D

Your picture is fairly grainy, Ron, if you get my drift.

Great picture of a fine knife, Harvey.

This was my carry crew today: a Jarrett Fleming sheepfoot fixed blade, Daniel Cannady small game fixed blade, and a n A. Wright lambsfoot folder. I toted the Fleming in a sheath on my belt (left side today), the Cannady in a sheath in my LFP, and the Wright in my RFP. Only the Jarrett has gone unused, so far.

Thank you Stuart. No...THAT’s my two front teeth.:) Lovely trio you got there.

Very nice indeed Dwight, I am looking forward to getting the slipjoint I have on order from our friend in Spain
Oh you have another one coming! Looking forward to seeing it.

Hartshead Barlow and a #44 Buffalo Jack
Beautiful knives Jack.

Cool David. What is the knife in the crown of your hat?

Sorry about that. Every time I see the bottom one, my heart skips a beat. First, the double fluted bolsters, and then the jigging, then the color, and finally, the nicely aged blades. The pen’s Swedge and the shape of the main blade are sweet.
I knew immediately which one you were referring to.

Here's some very old (around 4 years) pics of my GEC #73 from when it was new. The covers are now black, I wish I could restore the cocobolo to its former beauty but I still love this thing dearly. This was my EDC throughout most of high school and it still regularly sees pocket time.

Here's how it looks now:

Edit: sorry for the monster sized pictures

It's one of the 2 Parker barlow's I picked up with this group. They're really well made, great walk'n'talk. Only real fault is the pen blade runs out of center on both. But more so on the smooth bone,it actually touches the liner. @scrteened porch won the jigged bone one, but I got tangled up with work this past weekend and wasn't able to send it out yet. To bad Parker could be such a conman, these knives can stand on their own merit among any production knives imo.

As I get older, and my sight grows weaker, the Victorinox glass magnifier becomes more and more a valuable companion. The 13th printing of the Boy Scouts of America Scout Field Book is forever a source of wonder and a guide to adventure.

I wish they would put the magnifying glass in one of their knives with fewer layers. But I think my daughters would never go to a restaurant with me again if I used that to read the menu...o_O
