What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Ooooohhhhh, what is this little guy's name? do you have any more pics of this beauty?

I believe it is a proper SAK (issued to the swiss military, don't know when exactly, but certainly around WW2). I have a similar one from my grandfather. It is horribly banged up (the butt was probably used as a hammer) and sharpened with power tools.

Today I carried the carter and victoria (bottom one), an heirloom from my great-grandfather.

Incredible, is it carbon? if so, I am going to be on the lookout for one of these, though my instincts say that they are incredibly rare and the search isn't worth it. Also, I really love the Victoria, it feels great to carry an heirloom like that, huh?

I am lacking good pictures at the moment, but I have my grandfather's old electrician's knife marked 'Ulster Kutmaster USA' to keep on topic here :)

The main blade unfortunately is stainless, but the rest is carbon steel. It may be that older ones used carbon steel, prime77's certainly looks that way.
And I do love the Victoria. It was sharpened a lot, but properly. I was really pleased to see that it was as sharp as new when I first saw it (which tells me that it hasn't really been used by anyone else, because noone on that side of the family would have a clue how to sharpen a knife :D ). And the saw still cuts extremely well, the same double row teeth construction like modern SAKs (tested and proven for 100 years).

sturzi was right. It's a SAK from 1932. I've had it for awhile and carried it from time to time. A was lucky and got one in relatively good shape. It still has lots of life to it.

SBJ again, the patina is coming along very nicely; I wish I hadn't stropped it before I took this pic today, it would have fit the color scheme a lot better. :D
