I've been fussing with this Camillus Rough Cut folder today. The build quality is so-so, but the steel is good. The distortion on the sheepsfoot blade is some sort of clear coating or lacquer. Found the same thing on a NIB Old Timer, so I think it's a factory thing.

My new Case Chestnut Bone CV Trapper!

7011.jpg

A very pretty knife. I had wanted to pick up a Trapper in CV but never cared for the yellow scales on their normal CV line so I jumped on this one when I saw one. :D

What are those scales? I love how they fade from black into brown. The jigging is supurb. Droool

Capt. Carl, those are hand jigged & dyed bone,by Ken.The variation in color,is the way the bone "accepted" the dye.
I love the way it looks. It's a gorgeous little jack knife.

Yellow handled Case CV medium Stockman has been getting a lot of use lately.

Great pocket knives. I am carrying my Case slimline trapper in red bone and cv today along with my super tinker.

Ken's dye job looks like some of Case's Ole Green Bone. Quite attractive. A very classic knife Vince.....

I've been carrying this Amherst trapper almost exclusively now since I've owned it. The last knife to reide in my pocket like that was my Case 63062 Stockman.
I have reprofiled the edges from a bevel to a convex and it cuts and stays sharp well.Thre a couple of swedges on the blades while I was at it too. I think I have found the knife that will take care of my needs for a good long while. It's like I found my knife, the search is over.

Today it's this Schrade 8OT. The main blade has been convexed and it appears to be zero ground now. At least I can't see a secondary bevel when I look at it under magnification. It makes a great cutter, and just feels so solid.

Today this pretty (that's what I think) Bob Conley slipjoint - engraved by himself.
