What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

brought my wenger SI to work today WITH my 301...projects need to be done and all
i gotta tell ya, the full flat grind made the sak cut through stuff much easier than the saber grind of the 301

i might have to do some rethinking

Thanks guys, it my old(er) Henckels whittler made by Boker. I keep it buffed up after every whittling session.

That's a piece of burl I'm making another bead :)

Something new is coming my way. I didn't have to pay for it either so I didn't break my own rule.

A pipe is a really cool idea though. Seems out of my league, but I have a huge burl of this wood to play with so maybe I will try that too. It would be a fun challenge and learning experience.

Hah! I always wondered where you got that awesome looking bead on your EO #85. I have never whittled anything other than a pointy stick...I think it's time to try my hand at a bead since I do love lanyards quite a bit.

Go for it bud! I keep the wood tight on the end of a drill bit when I whittle and sand :)

Its like my own little manual powered lathe.

So many great ideas floating around on these parts. I just got a new drill too :D so I will definitely try this, thanks for the tip!

Its going to be real hard to set this 66 aside for the redneck. I am going to try and make it all month with one knife(only have one soddie). Mr. Orange is waiting in the wings to take over where Mr. Blonde left off :)

Ok P, enough teasing, what are the covers made of on that #25??

GEC calls it "Horsecut Antique," and it's monstrously awesome. The bone coloration is varied and has visual depth on its own, but it's the jigging-- the "horsecut"-- that sets it part in my eyes (and now, hands :)).

Yes. mouthwatering. That Böker in Grand Canyon Bone is a nice looking example too! Is it just me, but most knives look better with 4 pins rather than 3.

Thanks, guys. I'm very pleased (understatement), and noticed its being similar yet complementary to the Boker as well-- I hadn't thought of the two in relation to one another until seeing them together.

The secondary blade on this new 25 is once again a mondo stiff little bugger (that's for you, Frank), but having been able to avoid sending my last one to willgoy until it was workable, I am newly encouraged to work on this one myself, and be yet even more patient. (Sorry, willgoy. Heh.)

Carried this one today...the blade has quite a patina since this shot was taken...Going to be knifeless  for the next 5 days...:(
