Good enough.

Those look great! How long does it take you to finish one? Looks like you put some kind of oil finish on it?

I usually do them in a couple days, but that's working on them for 10-20 minutes at a time.

It probably takes about an hour to rough whittle, 20 minutes to rough sand, 20 minutes to fine sand with 320. Then I go straight to a buffing wheel and for this one I used a white compound. That takes about 5 minutes to buff in all directions.

There is no oil whatsoever. The buffer will shine certain woods like glass. Even when the buffing compound wears off there is still a permanant buff. This I have found only to be true on certain woods.

Its very translucent in person, like glass, with lightning like highlights that glisten and pop.

Thank you for the kind words :)

Great to hear! I find all my wood right back in the forrest. You can look around and I have found burl is more common than I thought. I like this chunk for the lightning yellow natural color of the core. Good luck and I hope to see how you make out! Back to knives, sorry for the semi off topic knife lanyard bead talk :)

You're right. Here is what I am totin today:

its an older picture, sadly I am at work today and not drinking beer at the moment :(

I love it! :D
The hawkbill really digs into material and makes a nice, clean cut.

How does it feel in-hand when using the clip blade, as shown in your picture? Looks to me like the hawkbill's spine might dig into (hand) material as well...?

What is that "smalls" case? Is it a stripped altoids smalls? rubber band around it? Just curious, that tool looks pretty handy as well.

I sanded a altoids smalls tin, it's a tin I carry everyday nice and light. The 2 straws are filled with petroleum jelled cotton balls, 1 straw with neosporin, 1 with split shot. The blue tape is cordage, wrapped with twine, and wrapped with fishing line. The rest you can see, fishing, and fire making stuff. The band is a old bike tire tube.
