What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

It is a GEC #55 Hounds Tooth in Autumn Gold jigged bone.
...
Thanks for the ID, John. :) Still camping in the garage?

Thanks, Gary, I always appreciate your gracious comments! Today I put the little Case 90 pattern in the RFP.
...
Pair of green gems, Jeff!:thumbsup::cool: I was looking online for some info on that cool cigar stockman; I didn't realize until now that's the frame for Case's junior scout, too.

Case Chestnut CV Muskrat and Buck 'Whittler'
...
Great pair, Dean!:thumbsup::thumbsup: The muskrat reminded me that I want to get a CV chestnut jigged muskrat soon, before they disappear completely from the retail sites.

Me too, they are a very nice looking pattern. I’d say it was nothing really having to do with the knife, GT, but more with me. I occasionally think about how much I would have liked to have the Dixie Stockman when I was growing up and working on a farm (had a Buck 110). Then I conclude that I would have lost it and stop thinking about that.

I limited my own opportunities with the knife, first by carrying smaller knives to work five days a week (such as a Cadet, #61, #15). Then the #66 Calf Roper became my preferred GEC Stockman. I just had too many knives I liked and used - so too many others didn’t. Selling/giving away a lot, including the #66, remedied that first world problem - and I forced myself to use the Dixie Stockman (I think I even listed it before and it didn’t sell, I probably priced it so that it likely wouldn’t). I’m happy with the decision.

I enjoy this documentary on Mark Knopfler and his guitars. One of my favorite concert experiences seeing him in Las Vegas a few years ago.

Thanks for your thoughts on the Dixie.:thumbsup:
Thanks for the Knopfler guitar link. I intended to watch a few minutes this morning and watch the rest when I had more time, but I ended up watching the whole thing right away. Fascinating to see virtuosos talking about their talents!:cool::thumbsup:

...
Many thanks Gary, though I'm afraid my Ankermesser has no tang stamp :(
...
Had my Hartshead Barlow with me today...
...
But thought I'd s'witch for the evening ;)
...
Good to know that I'm not the only one who falls for anchor knives regardless of their provenance, Jack. ;)
Barlow/Bread and Black lamb / Black sheep are inspired pairings!:cool::thumbsup:

Another new Eureka with major-league stag!!:cool::cool:

... The only time I was concerned about cutting my thumb like that was when I bought a pair of Mora Carvers. When switching between them, I made sure to pay close attention to which was which!
...
The only fixed blade knife I have is that bottom Mora; your two are cool!:thumbsup::cool: Have you used yours for much whittling?

Thanks GT! Some black and orange today for Halloween. Also appropriate if you are a fan of GT's Detroit Tigers :).
...
Nice black/orange combo, Tom!:thumbsup::cool: Your knives are a treat, but my Tigers are a trick. :(
The only person I saw on campus with a costume was a young lady wearing a tiger costume. I asked her if she was from Detroit, but she was from California, and didn't even realize Detroit Tigers were a thing.

Had to swap the carpenter whittler out for something more suited to the day.
...
I don't do holiday themed knives because they limit themselves to certain times of year, but I'm happy when an everyday knife happens to fit a holiday and this peanut certainly does.
I don't mind carrying a Christmas knife in July.

Been away from the porch too long...Happy Halloween Everyone!

Welcome back, and thanks for sharing the notable pair!!:D:thumbsup:

...
Very solid selection of slicers Gary; all have great covers but that Buck is just cool!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks GT, and let me mention your Buck Canoe is a nice looking knife. OH
...
Thanks GT, yes two folders is unusual for me. The wood on the Plow is Bocote, and the grain really pops. Nice Buck canoe you posted, a real looker
...
Thanks for the Buck compliments, guys. :) I think it's one of the canoes Buck made with a variety of handle materials about 10 years ago in China, but they seem hard to find.

For Friday my totes are a couple of black composition covered jacks from the 1930s; a Remington R2203 and a Syracuse Knife Co EO by Camillus.:)...
My two totes are a scout and a stag for Saturday; the Kutmaster scout from the late 1930s and the Puma Hunter in stag.:)...
Couple of superb pairs, JJ!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: If you're soliciting preferences, I'll vote for the bailed EO in the first duo, and the scout knife in the second. ;)

...
Fancy Dan GT ;)
...
Carrying my Hartshead Barlow SFO and a vintage Robeson Harness Jack gifted to me by @Campbellclanman in Sheffield some years ago :)
...
Thanks for noting my RR sowbelly, Jack; I'm thinking of getting a similar one with pink covers! :)
Rousing pics of your knives with relevant backgrounds for each!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

...
Thanks for the wooderful compliments Gary! :D
:D:thumbsup:
Stupendous ebony pair for Black Friday, too, Ron!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary. I mostly read on my iPad or phone, so I don’t often do more than a lot of “liking,” but you should know that I always appreciate your high effort contributions to this forum.
Thanks for your gracious reply, Dave! :):thumbsup:

Thanks Gary and yes a hosta leaf :)
Thanks for the confirmation, Steve. :)

...
It was a great year with a disappointing ending, but only one team can win it all, and the Nats earned it. Kudos to them. But wait till next year!
:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

That Canoe doesn't look so "plain", GT. ;)

Thank you, GT. :)
The Case cover is "Smooth Black", probably Delrin.
...
Thanks, John; that RR canoe has some bling, for sure. Maybe instead of plain/fancy, I should classify my canoes as "easy to find" / "hard to get".
That "smooth black" is actually quite dapper, IMHO!:cool::thumbsup:

Back to the Ebony WCLF today...
...
That black ebony is also quite dapper (massive understatement)!:cool::cool:
From WOLF to WCLF...

Thanks Gary, I think that would be a great present for your dad :)
...
Thanks for the affirmation, Jack. :) He was a farmer for most of his life, and I was shocked a few years ago to find out he doesn't routinely carry a pocket knife anymore.

This is getting to be a bit much.

One of the advantages of having an edc pack wherever you go (I usually keep it in the vehicle) is that you have more room for knives while freeing up pocket space. ...
Six isn't so bad, Jer. I typically have 7 in my pants pockets, and another 13 in my backpack these days. ;):thumbsup:

Totin’ something different today. I have always wanted to try out Bloodwood and Osage. Pretty good chatoyance. These are also two of my favorite patterns. Have a great weekend everyone!
That osage orange 73 is a champ!:thumbsup::cool:

...
I purchased a GEC #29 Stockyard Whittler in the middle of August, and challenged myself to carry it every day until the first frost. (Not necessarily by itself ;)) It was in my pocket through one of the hottest Septembers on record, and through a mild October. Now it's Nov. 1st, and it got down to 30 degrees overnight. ...
Congrats on completing that open-ended challenge!:thumbsup::cool:
Nice then/now pics!

You're an international man of mystery, Vince! ;):thumbsup: French and British knives in these pics, and you have at least Spanish and Swiss and American ones, too!

...
Here's 5 of the 6 I'm carrying today. I forgot to put my green SAK in the pic. Colder temps means more pockets! Horn Lambsfoot, Lloyd Stag, Peanut, Mini Copperlock, and an AF fixed blade.
...
Select sextet, Shawn! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

...
5K Qs 5K Qs - Much thanks GT. As for the spots: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/maple/maple-tar-spot-disease.htm

Glad to hear that you haven’t lost your Marbles.:) That’s a beauty.
...
Thanks for the link, Harvey, and for the Marbles compliment. :)
Nice pics of your vintage Opinel and lambsfoot!:cool::thumbsup: (Although IIRC, forum rules prohibit any and all snow shots.)

Utica and a Case
...
Bodacious bone on that pair, Steve!:cool::thumbsup:

Not sure why I put these two in my pockets today because I had no plans for using them , but they are really a nice pair to have just in case ....

Harry
Superlative pair, Harry!:cool::cool: That 78 is especially noteworthy!

...
Quite a fantastic foursome Gary; the Spanish navaja from your daughter is exceptionally stunning!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks, JJ. :) It's not marked as such, but I'm sure it's a Nieto birch Climber.

Thank you, Gary. Always a good idea to get something you want when you can. :)

Thanks guys, here's a Stan Shaw Lambsfoot with file work right down the blade

Solid choice John :)

Thanks Harvey, beautiful photo of an outstanding knife :)

Cool pics Kevin

Many thanks Barrett, how you doing buddy? :) Nice knives :) I bought a new pair of Mechanix gloves just the other day

Thanks Jack! I’ve been good, how about you? I just got those gloves recently, picked ‘em up to replace my plain old leather work gloves. They’re definitely more comfortable, and made a huge difference pushing that wheelbarrow around. I’m just hoping the material holds up, since they aren’t exactly cheap. :D Have you heard from Stan lately? Hope he’s doing well.

Beautiful Barlow!

Still camping in the garage?
I'm still "roughing it" for a couple of more weeks. :)

That "smooth black" is actually quite dapper, IMHO!:cool::thumbsup:
I like it too. It's like Budget Ebony. :D

That black ebony is also quite dapper (massive understatement)!:cool::cool:
From WOLF to WCLF...
Thank you, GT. :)
Nice to see Cracker Jack back out with his beautiful stag clothing.:thumbsup:

You have a nice international assortment, too, Gary. That Joker in your post is quite becoming!
