What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I can see why, it's very comely

Graceful!

It's iconic Gary ;) :)

Thanks, guys! Much appreciated!

I woke up intending to go down to my hunt club to getting prep started for turkey opener in a few weeks, but a sciatica flre-up scrapped those plans quickly. Had these two, Queen #31 for Mike's GAW and a Leonard Corlee hunter, ready for travel on Fixed Blade Friday:

So it's lighter duty today, like this rare culinary use of a folder by me:

And opening a box of new strings for an old Gibson LG-1 (1958) so I can learn how to play during convalescence:

Hope it subsides quickly, Stuart!
Nice knives and a great old Gibson!
Has me thinking about getting my Hummingbird out of the closet. I haven't picked it up in awhile.

Another small insignificant change.
Received today:
Marbles MR278 "Demo" knife and a Bundeswehr M1212 copy of the Cold War Era West German issue SAK.

I removed the Rough Rider RR1062 "A Stroke of Luck" canoe from my pocket, and dropped the MR278 and M1212 in.

So, in my right front pocket, I have the large Rough Rider 'A Stroke of Luck' Stockman, full size 'A Stroke of Luck' Trapper, the MR278 "Demo" knife, and the 110 mm M1212 Bundeswehr.
The Smoke Jumper 110 LT and Marbles MR417 two blade slipjoint Folding Hunter are still on my belt. :)

Have a great weekend, y'all. :D

Nice post Barrett, I've been there a few times before:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, Paul! This was my first time over there, although we drive by it all the time. You used to have to pay to access the park (not much, I think it was less than $10 a year), but as of December they’ve done away with the access fee.

Are you familiar with the Dakota Rail Trail? It’s a paved trail built over an old railroad line between Wayzata and Lester Prairie. Eleanor and I walked the entire thing over a few weeks last summer (technically we walked it twice, as we had to double back to where we parked every day). For some reason I don’t think I ever posted about it here, but here are a few pictures from our walks.

Most of the trail is well shaded by a canopy of trees, something I greatly appreciated while walking it in summer.

The photo below is the western terminus of the trail in Lester Prairie. (You can see that the railroad cut keeps going, but this is as far as they’ve paved the trail.)

The eastern end of the trial keeps going another 3/4 of a mile past this point (into downtown Wayzata), but this is where it stops following the railroad line.

btb01 btb01 Thanks for the nice photos Barrett! :) It makes me proud I live in SE Tennessee when I see all that snow and ice. However, I do think it's beautiful in limited doses!

It definitely took some adjustment for me, Ron. Winter here is a lot different than growing up in Arkansas, and like another planet compared to Arizona! :D

Fascinating photos Barrett, looks like you had an excellent walk :) The lifeguard station sign is funny :D Nice pair of boots there my friend

...

Morning folks, be careful out there today! ;)

Thanks, Jack! I’ve had those boots for almost 10 years. They need to be reconditioned, but I’m waiting until winter’s officially over. I actually have a second, brand new pair of the same boots that I bought a couple years ago before they were discontinued. It’s hard to find a good pair of full leather hiking boots anymore.

Nice pair you’re carrying there. Not much you couldn’t do with those two in your pocket!

We were going to fly up to visit Harry and Nancy and attend the big Wisconsin knife show at Janesville in two weeks. After talking with Harry this morning he informed us the show has been canceled. :(

Sorry to hear that, Ron. :( I was looking forward to meeting y’all!

I’ve still got this little Nifebrite #14 with me. I think today is the last day of Mike’s GAW challenge?

Is that a Deardorff? I used to have a Zone VI 4x5--I can only imagine how much fun an 8x10 would be.
Yes it is. I’m experimenting with X-ray film in the 8x10, because it’s much less expensive than regular film in that size. My 4x5 is a Wisner, which he made for Zone VI for a while. I will edit in the picture I took when the negative is dry.
