What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Corto_Malt Corto_Malt Fine 'patina' on that iron?? object the Laguiole is resting on. Looks like it's been underwater, or buried...?

I don't know what is this metal piece, found this morning at the foot of a tree in the forest.
I think it could be a hub cap of a car or van.
I found it in a place where loggers had stored a large pile of wood 2 or 3 years ago. They had been cutting wood for several weeks and had left a wheel with a flat tire from one of their pickup trucks. Hence my hypothesis of a hub cap...

Kudos to Charlie @waynorth and Mike @knifeswapper for having a hand in designing some of the most beautiful factory knives ever produced. It is still hard for me to believe that GEC has apparently decided to end production of these. Hopefully, at some point in the not too distant future, they will reconsider this decision.

I hope you are correct about it just being temporary EngrSorenson EngrSorenson , but I have heard different reports also from the horse’s mouth. I believe that Bill Howard’s real motivation is that he wants to make the knives that he wants to make. He is tired of making knives to other people’s orders. Certainly understandable. He has earned that privilege. However, it still makes me a bit sad that the Barlows as we know them are probably out of the picture for the foreseeable future. I guess it is always possible that GEC could develop a new Barlow on a different pattern, but I do not believe they will use the existing designs. Of course, anything could happen I guess.

I believe @Travman gave a report from “the man” himself regarding this- it’s a temporary measure which became practical with an abundance of absentee employees at GEC. The gist of it is recovery from Covid means recovery of some great production knives.

speaking of... here’s my carry for today... I love this knife.

I never thought I’d be tempted to try a Rough Ryder, but seeing so many of these RR’s floating in so many pockets, I’m intrigued. Honestly they look better than I thought they would! I might just toss $15 bucks at one and see what it’s like.

Nice:thumbsup: I love a good patina, it tells a story. Although my carry today is so new there is no patina. I pulled out a yellow TC single Clip that has been in a knife roll for way to long, so now the fun begins with wild apple season in full swing:)

That’s a sweet one! My patina says, “Granny Smith and grilled chicken thighs taste mighty good!”
