What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Well it's 2021 already here so let's hope for everything we need ;)

Decided I will carry the current Forum Knife for this New Year's Day. Once again big shout of thanks to @knifeswapper for Mike making this happen in the face of extreme adversity. Tenacity by him and the workers and designers at Viper in Italia

I've got these two in my pocket for the start of the week. :)

Handsome pair! I got one of those F&F #62’s in Muslin Micarta (recently used it for my Christmas Day gift/package opening knife). That Natural Linen Micarta sure looks good, too.

Got my son moved back to Santa Clara.

Him and a buddy rented an apartment down there, even though the school is being held virtual. There may be some Physics labs they can attend. Sad to see him move back there but happy he's spreading his wings and being independent. It was the usual chaos with traffic, hurt my back unloading things and assembly that stupid IKEA furniture, and my arthritis is at full flare-up in my hands. Worst part is everything is closed, so no stopping on the trip for restrooms or dining. The things we do for our kids. ;)

Had lots of opportunities to use my pocket knife though. That always brings me a little joy and reminds me of better times. The little Case Dogleg Jack sliced like a champ and kept asking for more. It helped my cut my sandwich. It cut cardboard, string, rope, nylon straps, plastic bags holding millions of tiny parts and fasteners (I hate IKEA), and rode comfortably in my pocket the whole trip.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Today I will be carrying my Usual Lamb and my Old Boker USA Jack...

But how do you really feel about IKEA? ;) :D

We’re supposed to get snow here. I hope we do. I just bought an awd Subaru, and I can’t wait to try it in the slop.:D

Snow’s a lot of fun to drive around in when you’ve got 4WD/AWD, isn’t it? :D

My 84mm Tinker and 2015 Bull Nose with black Micarta covers. The Bull Nose is my go to Steak Knife:thumbsup:

That’s a no-nonsense pair, Paul.

Modern traditionals out in the woods with me today.

It definitely is, I feel like a kid again with this, I can't believe I waited so long to get a .22 revolver. Shooting tin cans with a 22 is more fun to me than shooting paper with larger calibers.

Good stuff! It’s been too long since I’ve been out plinking.

I have to clean gutters today... my wife told me so. ;)
So today I'll have my Usual Lamb and my Case Dirty Work Knife.:thumbsup:

Nope... It's freezing out there... waiting for it to warm up a bit.

Hope you didn’t have too much fun, John! :D Thankfully we’re well past gutter-cleaning season here. The first year we were in this house (which was the first year I had to clean gutters since I was a kid), I waited too long and ended up having to pull out solid blocks of frozen leaf sludge. Nice pair of knives you’ve got there.

Wooden Wednesday carry, Oregon Trapper and Boker Club knife. The Boker, with ironwood scales, arrived in yesterdays mail. Cost quite a bit more than I should spend on a single blade folder but I'm extremely pleased with the knife. Perfect pulls and snap, centered blade, excellent F&F, slim and very pocket friendly. Feels very solidly built too.

Great photo!

I'm so far behind! This was actually my "Metal Monday", but it's carried on for a few days now. I'm suddenly digging all of these big, heavy knives!:D

I like that Ka-Bar, don’t think I’ve seen that one before.

Really nice photo!

I also went with the 2020 Forum knife in honor of the last day of a very memorable year.
Happy New Year everyone!!

That’s one word for it. I can think of a few others, but they’re not Porch-appropriate. ;)

I’ve been carrying this #74 Mustang in Black Plum Jigged Bone for a couple days, and got the matching #47 Viper in the mail today.

Thanks Barrett!!! The 62 has turned into my most used little slicer; super handy. :)

I think that Jack Black Jack Black conjured this one up. Bagpipe Ebony covers.

Very appropriate for Hogmanay Bill! :D

Going to ring in the New Year with these.

Cracking pair buddy :)

Thanks, Jack. :) I'm very fond of the shape and profile and blade combo of the sowbelly stockman pattern, and I think my RR carbon is a fine representative of the pattern.
Great pile side pic of your HHB with that hefty top-popper!:cool::thumbsup:

Me too Gary, even though I only have a couple, including a RR in their smooth tobacco bone :) Thank you my friend

Thanks for the well-wishes, and same to you, Jack!:cool::cool: I don't expect much to change the instant the clock strikes midnight, but I'm sure hoping that eventually 2021 will turn out to be vastly superior to 2020.
Cool Catapult Calendar for the new year!:thumbsup::D

Thanks again Gary :) You are quite right, there are no magic wands getting shaken, but I sure hope we have happier times ahead :)

Watch pocket knife this week is a Rough Rider dogleg locking mini canoe:

Three lookers there :) I discovered I had one of those wee RR slips in a drawer the other day, it must have been there for years :D I gave a pal of mine a Barlow like that, and he thinks it is the finest knife ever created :)

I might as well finish the year with the electrician.
Have a happy and safe new year everyone!

I have an Electrician in my bag every time I go out, great pattern :) Seeing a lot of SAKs today

And because this is a knife forum, not an automotive one, I’m thinking of this hefty Buck to be my dedicated car knife.
Plus a TL-29, of course...View attachment 1482806That other thing will go in the car, too. It’s a US Army issue rescue tool from Ontario Knife Co. ~ comination window breaker, and seat belt cutter. Also has a ceramic rod knife sharpener. My son was issued it in A’stan. I hope I never need it!
Happy New Year, Gary!

That looks like a good bit of kit Jeff, goes well with your Buck

Very cool looking slingshot with your HHB today; you can certainly shoot 2020 in the rear for me, Happy New Year!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks JJ, I'm with you there! Happy New Year my friend :)

Outstanding photo

Been toting these two slicers today, one in abalone and the other in bovine. :)

You picked two absolute beauties for NYE JJ  :)

Arrived in time to celebrate the New Year...

What do you have there John (sorry if I haven't been paying attention)? :)

Happy New Year everyone! Good riddance to 2020!

As usual, in addition to whatever other knife I'm carrying, there'll be an Alox Cadet in my left pocket. Just like every day. I don't know why I don't have a pic of my old beat up, plain silver one, but here's a pic of the nice one my wife carries.

Thanks, Jack! I like that little chopper you're carrying!
Happy New Year! If it isn't better than 2020 then woe are we.

Good morning 2021

That's a nice one to wake up to, Vince! Happy New Year!
