It is a comfortable place John, and the company is good (but always thinking about my next project!)Seems like a comfortable place to relax and the company looks fantastic.![]()
Thanks Jack!Nice work![]()

It is Jeff, relaxation time is good time. Sounds like you have a nice place too. Our regular birds are Woodpeckers, Blue Birds, Blue Jays, and various wrens.Great Frontier, Bruce!
Isn’t it nice to sit out on the deck?
Distinguished wood duo, John; fancy, but not ostentatious!
Handsome amber bone, Dean!
Congrats on the Böker trapper, Cory!We dropped the kids with the grandparents and headed up north to do some no-kids camping. Happened along a little knife shop and picked up this guy, who immediately went into the pocket.

Superb pair, Steve; I always enjoy seeing your golden stag lambsfoot!
I admire your stag whittler, Greg, and it looks fantastic with that "color-coordinated" slip!Klaas stag whittler so far today.

You need to find a stockman SAK!I went overly minimal today in anticipation of more heat.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I feel naked without a stockman, but it sure doesn't feel right.
That swayback jack in chestnut jigged bone is a sublime knife! My in laws are coming today. I’ve got some ribs on the grill and I’m carrying my Case Swayback. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Classy choices for commencement, Todd!Son’s graduation party last weekend, actual ceremony tonight. Carrying these two because I can’t decide on only one and I think they are both appropriate for the occasion.View attachment 1568809
I don't think of myself as a big fan of single-bladed folders, or lockbacks, but that is an attractive knife with its drop point blade!!Found room in my pocket this evening for this low cost early '90s survivor

Congrats on the new dog!![]()
The puppy, Maggie, we adopted yesterday checking out my carry. I figured on this Sunday a smooth bone dog leg 56 was a fitting choice.

Ah geez. I forgot one. There’s a Wenger Esquire on my spare set of keys. I carry a spare house and car key in my left front pocket along with the two Wengers. Old habit from working in murderous neighborhoods too many years. You do not want to be standing outside your car looking at the keys locked inside on a street on the west side of Chicago.
...
Three jacks. Is that a decent poker hand? I don’t play cards.
Quality quintets, Jeff & Todd!I’m enjoying a cup of coffee and a Sunday morning cigar. I grabbed this crazy group to play around with.View attachment 1569063
Love the matching colors, John!
Thanks for the informative comments on the status of the cotton sampler pattern! If I have read up correctly on the Cotton Samplers history, then it was used by buyers to test cotton bales. If that is the case then no it doesn't get used for that, I just like the history behind the blade.
Now days, gin technology has made the blade's purpose kind've pointless but it's still cool.
I'll bet that pair was able to handle all your knife needs for the week! These two since last Sunday

Thanks, John.Another good comparison, GT.![]()
Doesn't take up much more real estate, but infinitely more usable.

Sorry to hear about the impending loss of your big maple, Greg, and I can relate to your pro/con comments. We have 3 big oaks (at least 80 years old) whose shade is marvelous, but the lawn is currently covered with brown oak "flowers" whose dust fills my eyes and nose.Spending some time in the backyard this morning with these two knives along. Sadly our massive silver maple is dying and will probably be taken down this year.
I'll sure miss the old girl and the shade she provides. On the plus side I won't miss the 6 million seed pods she releases that cover the lawn each spring.

Glad to hear that the marlinspike is working out for you, Todd! Thanks Gary! Got a lot of use today out of the knife you sent me. We have to do a lot of reconfiguring on our dock to fit the new boat. Cut lots of rope today, even used the spike to untie a few knots that had been cinched all winter!View attachment 1569387

Enviable blade combo on your jack, Bruce!Today and last couple of days, Craftsman Serpentine Jack. OH

That dye job looks great!
I appreciate your replies, Jim.Thanks Gary... no further problems with the tool chest after reattaching the rail tips. Would be simple enough to replace the rails with some good solid wood (oak maybe) but since it's working, I'll let it ride. Not going to throw time and effort into an inferior product unless push comes to shove. The chest costs a fraction of what a top quality wooden tool chest costs ... but you get what you pay for of course.
The Case medium jack is just about the right size. Bigger than a Peanut but configured about the same. I really like it. Looks like a few others do too.
The Case Sod Buster ticks a lot of boxes for a good utility working knife at a working man's price point. Don't think Case will ever put that pattern in the vault but who knows.
That is some wonderful jigging - nice Canoe!Premium Canoe this week is a Rodgers Wostenholm 1978 NKCA gunboat (thanks, Tony):

Didn't know that. I do know that if possums take up in your yard you are fortunate; they are voracious eaters of ticks. The average grown turkey eats about 200 ticks a day.
Thanks GT, as you know it is a favorite. OHEnviable blade combo on your jack, Bruce!![]()
Thanks, GT.Distinguished wood duo, John; fancy, but not ostentatious!
Thanks, GT.Love the matching colors, John!
The #66 Jack is called Purple SageDoes GEC call these the same color bone?
Thanks for all the kind responses Gary. Yes, it’s what we used to call an inboard. Nowadays, there are more and more true inboards, specifically dedicated ski and surf boats. So now our boat is considered a bow rider with a stern drive. Probably more information than you were looking for! That swayback jack in chestnut jigged bone is a sublime knife!
