What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Seems like a comfortable place to relax and the company looks fantastic. 🤠
It is a comfortable place John, and the company is good (but always thinking about my next project!)
Nice work :)
Thanks Jack!
Great Frontier, Bruce!
Isn’t it nice to sit out on the deck?
It is Jeff, relaxation time is good time. Sounds like you have a nice place too. Our regular birds are Woodpeckers, Blue Birds, Blue Jays, and various wrens.

Going a bit fancy today... Charlie Lamb and Albers Single Jack.
Distinguished wood duo, John; fancy, but not ostentatious!:thumbsup::cool:

I'm carrying my Case Texas jack today.

Handsome amber bone, Dean! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

We dropped the kids with the grandparents and headed up north to do some no-kids camping. Happened along a little knife shop and picked up this guy, who immediately went into the pocket.

Congrats on the Böker trapper, Cory!:cool::thumbsup: Always fun to look at knives in person. I used Case's dealer locator page to look for some dealers "within 300 miles" of me last weekend, and DLT showed up as something like 179 miles - must have been measuring "as the crow flies".

Superb pair, Steve; I always enjoy seeing your golden stag lambsfoot!:cool::thumbsup:

Klaas stag whittler so far today.

I admire your stag whittler, Greg, and it looks fantastic with that "color-coordinated" slip!:cool::cool:

I went overly minimal today in anticipation of more heat.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I feel naked without a stockman, but it sure doesn't feel right.
You need to find a stockman SAK! ;)

My in laws are coming today. I’ve got some ribs on the grill and I’m carrying my Case Swayback. Hope you all have a good weekend.

That swayback jack in chestnut jigged bone is a sublime knife!:thumbsup::cool:

Son’s graduation party last weekend, actual ceremony tonight. Carrying these two because I can’t decide on only one and I think they are both appropriate for the occasion.😉👍View attachment 1568809
Classy choices for commencement, Todd!:thumbsup::cool:

Found room in my pocket this evening for this low cost early '90s survivor

I don't think of myself as a big fan of single-bladed folders, or lockbacks, but that is an attractive knife with its drop point blade!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Today is our Ruby Wedding Anniversary, 40 years Sandra and I have been together! This is the Anniversary knife made by Paul Mason to celebrate our 36th...View attachment 1568982
Congrats on your 40th anniversary!!:cool::thumbsup: Our 36th is next Tuesday, but I'm not expecting a knife as nice as yours! ;)

The puppy, Maggie, we adopted yesterday checking out my carry. I figured on this Sunday a smooth bone dog leg 56 was a fitting choice.
Congrats on the new dog!:cool::thumbsup:

Ah geez. I forgot one. There’s a Wenger Esquire on my spare set of keys. I carry a spare house and car key in my left front pocket along with the two Wengers. Old habit from working in murderous neighborhoods too many years. You do not want to be standing outside your car looking at the keys locked inside on a street on the west side of Chicago.
...
Three jacks. Is that a decent poker hand? I don’t play cards.
I’m enjoying a cup of coffee and a Sunday morning cigar. I grabbed this crazy group to play around with.View attachment 1569063
Quality quintets, Jeff & Todd!:cool::cool:

Decided to carry two favorite GEC knives...
Love the matching colors, John!:thumbsup::cool: Does GEC call these the same color bone?

If I have read up correctly on the Cotton Samplers history, then it was used by buyers to test cotton bales. If that is the case then no it doesn't get used for that, I just like the history behind the blade.

Now days, gin technology has made the blade's purpose kind've pointless but it's still cool.
Thanks for the informative comments on the status of the cotton sampler pattern!:thumbsup::cool:

These two since last Sunday

I'll bet that pair was able to handle all your knife needs for the week!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Another good comparison, GT. 🤠
Doesn't take up much more real estate, but infinitely more usable.
...
Thanks, John. :)

Spending some time in the backyard this morning with these two knives along. Sadly our massive silver maple is dying and will probably be taken down this year. :(
I'll sure miss the old girl and the shade she provides. On the plus side I won't miss the 6 million seed pods she releases that cover the lawn each spring. :)

Sorry to hear about the impending loss of your big maple, Greg, and I can relate to your pro/con comments. We have 3 big oaks (at least 80 years old) whose shade is marvelous, but the lawn is currently covered with brown oak "flowers" whose dust fills my eyes and nose.

Thanks Gary! Got a lot of use today out of the knife you sent me. We have to do a lot of reconfiguring on our dock to fit the new boat. Cut lots of rope today, even used the spike to untie a few knots that had been cinched all winter!View attachment 1569387
Glad to hear that the marlinspike is working out for you, Todd! :)

Barlow and a Cattle knife

Splendid cattle knife, Steve!:cool::thumbsup: Is the "WARDS" on the tang stamp the old department store?

It was a beautiful day here had a great time boating. My son and one of his buddies bring it in.

Me chilling at the bar I built on the dock and hoping my son doesn’t hit the dock!

Wonderful Workhorse, GT. 🤠
Good to see your Union Jack Gary :)

Gave the wharnie a teabath, mellowed out the stag nicely🥰
That dye job looks great!:thumbsup::cool:

Thanks Gary :) ... no further problems with the tool chest after reattaching the rail tips. Would be simple enough to replace the rails with some good solid wood (oak maybe) but since it's working, I'll let it ride. Not going to throw time and effort into an inferior product unless push comes to shove. The chest costs a fraction of what a top quality wooden tool chest costs ... but you get what you pay for of course.

The Case medium jack is just about the right size. Bigger than a Peanut but configured about the same. I really like it. Looks like a few others do too.

The Case Sod Buster ticks a lot of boxes for a good utility working knife at a working man's price point. Don't think Case will ever put that pattern in the vault but who knows.
I appreciate your replies, Jim. :)

Premium Canoe this week is a Rodgers Wostenholm 1978 NKCA gunboat (thanks, Tony):

That is some wonderful jigging - nice Canoe!
The average grown turkey eats about 200 ticks a day.
Didn't know that. I do know that if possums take up in your yard you are fortunate; they are voracious eaters of ticks.
Enviable blade combo on your jack, Bruce!:cool::cool:
Thanks GT, as you know it is a favorite. OH

Distinguished wood duo, John; fancy, but not ostentatious!
Thanks, GT. :)
It's about the only fancy about me.
Love the matching colors, John!
Thanks, GT. :)
They do match very well together.
Maybe that's why they are among my favorites.
Does GEC call these the same color bone?
The #66 Jack is called Purple Sage
The #55 Hounds Tooth is called Autumn Gold

Impressive new boat, Todd; inboard motor?
Hope you never "need a bigger boat"! :D

- GT
Thanks for all the kind responses Gary. Yes, it’s what we used to call an inboard. Nowadays, there are more and more true inboards, specifically dedicated ski and surf boats. So now our boat is considered a bow rider with a stern drive. Probably more information than you were looking for!
🙄😂

Superb pair, Steve; I always enjoy seeing your golden stag lambsfoot!:cool::thumbsup:

Splendid cattle knife, Steve!:cool::thumbsup: Is the "WARDS" on the tang stamp the old department store?

- GT
Thanks Gary, yes Wards the old dept. store. It was made by Winchester I believe and is one of my absolute favorites with it's sunken joints .

That Storm Trooper should come in handy... ;)
He guards my desk everyday John :) :D ;)
Looking good Taylor  :)
This one hasn't left my pocket since I got it a couple of weeks ago.
