What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

mark.closed.boxlabel.jpg
That's one of my "often looked at but haven't purchased" knives on my list... I want the Boy Scout edition. 🤠

A junk store Kutmaster. It is a bit pitted, but the joints are tight, and the blades are not ground down to toothpicks.

Well that store obviously carries more than junk. That’s really nice, and a great save.

Have a good one!

Feast for the eyes, Gary.
Two great knives. And the shot of the trail makes me want to see what’s around the bend...

I can';t believe it!!! This'll be three days in a row with doctor's appointments. To get me in a better mood, I'm carrying this Boker Copperhead with jigged, blue bone, covers. I prefer the secondary Muskrat blades on these Copperheads over the Pen blade Case uses on their Copperheads. Anyway, it'll turn out to be a good day as a visit to the Wagon Wheel Cafe will be in order. It's Thursday so, that means Chicken Fried Stead, two eggs up, hash browns, and white gravy.

I think next time I find myself in Alturas I’ll just go straight to the Wagon Wheel. I’m bound to run into you there if I wait a few minutes. 😄

Poor dog today. He is normally King of the Backyard, where he runs off all kinds of invading verminous critters, but he is currently banned from the backyard.
Just after Manny had patrolled the fenced in backyard, done his business, barked at a shifty eyed tree rat, and whined when he saw a neighbor walking his dog on the street, I saw a hen turkey and four younguns casually strolling the tree line inside the fence. She seems to like it here, finding lots of interesting things in my manure and compost piles, and in the blackberry patch. I am not sure how she got in since the little ones can’t fly high enough to clear the fence, and I’m afraid she might not remember how to get out. Right now, she is roosting about 30 feet up a tree outside my daughter’s bedroom window. Presumably the brood is stashed close by, but I don’t dare let Killer out there.
Am I going to have to wait until those four little ones can fly before I can let Manny have his backyard again?8AB803CE-8272-4A0B-9381-813C7D65316E.jpeg3A32B6A7-A020-4281-988E-3163E1F05F66.jpegI was working on the tomatoes in the bed you can see in the second photo, which is where I took the first photo from.
I see a LOT of wild turkeys around here, but never in my fenced in backyard. And am a bit amazed how unconcerned she was by being so close.

I had to supplement my knives with this Vic hawkbill florist for some delicate pruning on the maters. That is my excuse for making this post!

Got this one again today. I like having the tools handy. Helped me trim some tiny tree (bonsai) branches, tighten a screw on a door hinge, and open a box...out at dinner today after a walk at the beach. Gorgeous day today. In a second here I’m gonna use the parcel hook to turn the knife into a stand to hold my phone while I watch the ball game.E1F145EF-91B6-4B87-A007-9F81CCCD2F68.jpeg

That SAK turned out nicely.

Afternoon Cuppa Coffee
Nice mug shot of your knife, John! ;):thumbsup:
Maybe you'll enjoy this YouTube clip from a 1944 movie. The first 1:20 is the Sons of the Pioneers singing "Tumblin' Tumbleweeds" in a crowded nightclub (?), then Roy rides in on Trigger. My favorite part is, after Trigger does some tricks, Roy mounts up again to ride 4 steps to the stage so he can sing a song.

You’ve got some sweet gear yourself Gary. 20 min. to a trout stream that’s great! 2 1/2 hours for me. 😊 Fishing got better, did manage to snap a pic of the first, just a little guy. Almost dropped my camera in the stream, so no pics of the others. 😳 Don’t know how to juggle all the stuff without dropping my phone! 😄👍View attachment 1587509
I always worry about phone-related distracted driving, Todd, and now you're experiencing distracted fishing! 😲😁

José, you're "all squared away" with that handsome pair of knives!:thumbsup:;)

Carrying my mini copperlock probably for the remainder of the week. It's probably one of my favorite traditionals.
Fantastic color and jigging on your mini copperlock, K ktataragasi !!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Notable pair, Jack; your AC is a striking knife!:thumbsup::cool:

Thanks a lot Gary :) I de-barked it, rounded off the top end, and whittled the bottom end for a ferrule, with my Hartshead Barlow, but I used several grades of sandpaper after that, then 2 coats of sanding sealer, both rubbed down, 3 coats of Danish oil (the first one rubbed down slightly), then a final layer of coloured wax, and a good polish
Thanks for the info on the post-HHB steps for finishing your staff, Jack!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary. Always good to read your comments. When I first started posting reading your comments made me feel I'd made it as a Porch member.
Thanks for the kind comment, Alan. :) I think it's somewhat ironic, since you joined BF several months before I did, I think.;)

Thanks GT! Can’t beat a day that starts with a dose of GT encouragement!
Thanks, Jon. :)

Yes indeed Gary! a fun time by all was had… the strawberry red stockman didn’t help with the good ‘ole hockey game as Montreal lost, still great to have on hand as always though.
I’ve been searching lately for some scores and have had a few great ones to be sure. Patience is always a virtue isn’t it!!

Today’s easy carry doesn’t come out very often, a little more cherry pickin’ today… Winch’ Wendesday if you will.

A great one to all
I don't have much patience, Gus, but it LOOKS like I do because I procrastinate so much. o_O😁
For the first, and maybe the last, time in my life, I can say, "Hey! I have that same knife that Un-Chained Un-Chained posted!" 😲;):D

Well, thank ye
Gar-ee

don’t have the time to make things rhyme,
not much of a poet, as I’m afraid this will show it.
Big un TEW LF and Robeson electrician, both in walnut. Harry, @Old Engineer, rightly surmised that a Robeson version of the TL-29 had eluded me, and kindly rectified that.

View attachment 1587827Have a dang good day.
Jeff, maybe you don't always have poetic inspiration, but you've got plenty of inspiring knives, including this wonderful walnut duo!:thumbsup::thumbsup: They inspire me to look for a knife with walnut handle.
(When I was a kid, my Dad bought a 2nd farm near us that had an old decrepit house with a big beautiful walnut tree in the side yard. Someone came in one night, cut down the walnut, and took it away! ☹️)

Excellent wire jack, Alan!:cool::thumbsup: I'm surprised that we don't see more of those on The Porch, other than the ones you post.

Well covered for Wooden Wednesday today. Halfway to the weekend :)

Great grain in that dark wood Joker!:thumbsup::cool:

Toting these two Robeson electricians covered in walnut and cocobolo for today's recording adventures. :)
Superb sylvan electricians, JJ! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Fishing was good this morning, had these in my pocket.View attachment 1588047
Splendid pair, Todd! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:
Glad your Texas Jack turned out to be a good fishing knife (and that your knife choices are "data-driven" rather than based on superstition). :D

Happy Wednesday to all! I have my presidential with me along with my new ride or die, the Texas Camp knife. Makes me happy just looking at these two beauties.

Barking with the Big Dogs, Ross! 😲:thumbsup:

I've been carrying my Ancient 2.0 TC Barlow for the last few days.

View attachment 1588077
Sublime Ancient, Dean! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Nice dark shade of red on that bone. 🤠
Thanks, John. :)

I suppose so, theoretically. Most winters we get a few nights that dip below freezing, which isn't a problem for a hearty plant like rosemary. I've never experienced it stay below freezing for 144 hours in a row!
It was rather beautiful, though.

Fine photo to memorialize your fallen friend!:cool::cool:

The birth year knife is very cool. I casually look for a 1977 Case knife for the same reason but haven’t gotten one yet.
That's an admirable, and probably quite achievable, goal!:thumbsup::cool:
1977 would be 3 dots?
