Today is my daughter Eleanor’s 5th birthday, which, of course, means I’m carrying her Nifebrite #71 Bull Nose.

It’s been a good day so far. We had pancakes for breakfast, Eleanor opened some presents and we spent some time at one of her favorite parks. She’s been going to half-day preschool a couple days a week this summer, and said that she still wanted to go even though it was her birthday, so we’ve been enjoying a couple hours of quiet while she’s doing that. She requested Chinese takeout for dinner tonight, and “Mamaw cookies” (my grandmother’s recipe) instead of a birthday cake, which I baked yesterday.

As always, I took a photo of Eleanor with her knife earlier today, and as always, I’m gonna make y’all look all the previous years’ photos again, too.

Rolling with the bloodwood 38 today. I think the English whittler is my knife of the year thus far.

It would be hard to argue against that. It’s a toss up between the 38 and 83 for me so far.

Yes, that's the Duomo. Here's a shot from that same spot. The Ponte Vecchio is on the left side of the pic. Pretty sure my pinched peanut was in my pocket!
