What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today is my daughter Eleanor’s 5th birthday, which, of course, means I’m carrying her Nifebrite #71 Bull Nose.

It’s been a good day so far. We had pancakes for breakfast, Eleanor opened some presents and we spent some time at one of her favorite parks. She’s been going to half-day preschool a couple days a week this summer, and said that she still wanted to go even though it was her birthday, so we’ve been enjoying a couple hours of quiet while she’s doing that. She requested Chinese takeout for dinner tonight, and “Mamaw cookies” (my grandmother’s recipe) instead of a birthday cake, which I baked yesterday.

As always, I took a photo of Eleanor with her knife earlier today, and as always, I’m gonna make y’all look all the previous years’ photos again, too. 😉😁
Happy Birthday to a future knife collector, looks like Eleanor is starting young. :) Adorable pics btw.

Happy Birthday Eleanor. Great photos

I have never seen Bloodwood show color like that !!!!! That is a very striking photo my friend .

Harry
Thanks, Harry. The bloodwood in those SFO's all seem to have a certain chatoyance to them from the pics I've seen. Mine photographs differently in various light and angles.
Hope you and yours are having a pleasant summer and a bountiful garden, my friend. :)

We left the redwoods yesterday, but not before another hike in fern canyon and a visit to Paul and Babe.

Today it was onto the other extreme, hot and dry. I carried my Alox SAK and we visited a mountain made of obsidian and some lava caves.

Ah! Trees of Mystery! We were just there last year! A fantastic place! Wish I knew about the obsidian mountain and lava caves!!!

Thanks for sharing the photos!

A couple wearing buffalo horn today.View attachment 1603388
Healthy trio of knives with your fresh broccoli, Jeff; that Camco scout is choice!

Acclaimed acrylic!

Going to play some golf for the first time since I messed up my back weeks ago. 🤞
These won’t be in my pocket when I’m playing, but they’ll be in my bag.😉👍View attachment 1603402
Thrilling threesome, Todd! The "golfball" Classic is very nice; I think I've seen a Case mini trapper with a divot repair tool that you might need to add to your bag. 🤓

My Two for Twosday...
Superior scene a' patina, John!

Starting my work day a couple hours later than usual, had time to photo todays carry minutes ago.
Now it's time for me to get out there and try and accomplish something productive today. :)

Stupendous stockman, Greg!

These two beauties just flew into my mail from Sheffield, England, care of Jack Black Jack Black ! The Bagpipe Ebony covering the Lambsfoot is beautiful and I'm a huge fan of the Scout pattern (my first Sheffield version!) I'm overwhelmed; thank you Jack!!! 😁:thumbsup:
Congrats on the two fantastic English knives from one fantastic English gentleman, JJ! I really like that Richards scout with the lamp post tang stamp!

You guys talked me into another one. This is pretty nice. I'll be giving it a run for awhile.

Congrats on the alluring Alox!

I love Alox SAKs, I have a few, my favorites are the Farmer, followed by the Pioneer. The one I’ve always wanted though was an Electrician. Most of the SAKs were gotten at flea markets and yard sales but no one ever sells their Electricians.
...
I'm right with you, Ted, in being afflicted with a case of "Alox Pox"! I think you've got good taste, too, since my favorite models are the Electrician and Farmer.

This otherwise unremarkable A.Wright & Son clip point Barlow with dull but semi-reflective buffalo horn covers ... Except for the transparent blade !!!

AWd35dq.jpg
Remarkable photo! That "transparent blade" effect has happened to me a couple of times, both total accidents that I didn't notice until I was "processing" the photo later.

Oops! Forgot to post my carry! :D

Another exemplary ebony pair, Jack!

Good morning, back to the Boker Beer Barrel Canoe today.

View attachment 1603920
Consummate canoe! The pins on yours are very nice compared to the somewhat sunken, splintery pins on my Beer Barrel Canoe.

I hope you find a good deal at the Case dealer! What fun to actually pick out a knife in person, like days of yore.

Not picked out in person at a Case Master Dealer, but these are being used today~ 7254 in SS, and 2031.

Electrifying Case electrician, Jeff! Have you treated your pocket slip in some way? It looks darker to me than most of John's superb slips.

I'm not really expecting a good deal when I go to the Case dealer. I was there once before, and the in-store prices were actually higher then those on the website. But I suppose that's a premium one pays for the ability to choose a particular knife. (Unfortunately, the sawcut Case Barlow I bought there was the only one left in the store, so I really had no choice. o_O)

Happy Wooden Wednesday and Wharncliffe Wednesday... got my bases covered today.
Lots of good geometry in that photo in addition to the good knives, John!

I always enjoy seeing that cork-handled knife, José!

Stunning stockman, Bruce!

Headed out the door in an hour or so for a doctor's appointment over in Lakeview, Oregon. There's a nice little Mexican restaurant over there (El Agave Azul) that's very good so, that's where we'll fuel up for the return home this afternoon. To stay on my Sod Buster path, I'll be totin this Case 4 5/8" Large Linerlock Sod Buster - this one with SS blade and black composite covers. For a 9-dot (1971 manufacture) that's seen a lot of use and work over the years, it's got a really pointy blade. Sharp enough to make you say "OW" if bit by it.

View attachment 1604028
Big-league big Sod Buster, ED! What did you order at the Mexican restaurant?

...
Those alox SAKs are great, aren’t they?
If you're doing a poll, put me down for "Absolutely!"

Toting double stag when I head down to my local flea-market tomorrow morning ;)

I'm enjoying your "daily doubles" recently, Jack! A couple of double ebonies, and now stellar double stag.

Still enamored with the Bagpipe Ebony Lambsfoot gift from Jack Black Jack Black and added an Ebony GEC 15 with the pile side up on both. :)
You have everything squared away, JJ!

George Wostenholm Rosewood Lambsfoot today. I’m glad I got this one.

Luxuriant lambsfoot!

5K Qs 5K Qs always liked that oddity Maths' table knife and the Whale stamp clinches it
Thanks, Will. :) I'm tempted to buy a current Richartz knife just to get their current abstract/stylized whale logo.

It’s been a few days everyone, busy galavanting around as it were and miss the freedoms that are back, even in this loose manner. Excuse the catch-up likes, lurves and wows as there will be many!!

Today’s carry is all-iron and bone as it’s calm and kool here…
View attachment 1604731
A great Thursday to all
Yowza! That's a shapely Shapleigh, Gus!!!

Heading to a different lake today, I’ve got these with me this morning, but the SAK will likely be the only one that goes because it’s slim enough to slip into the wallet, and I don’t want to risk another “dip” into the lake with my real slip! 😉👍View attachment 1604736
Try to keep that dynamic duo dry, Todd!

Hope everyone has had a good week, and that you're looking forward to the weekend :) Carrying a New Friend and an Old Friend today ;)

Handsome pair of knives, Jack. The fiery and colorful scales on the one are very striking and the dark and antique looking scales on the other are both perfect. Nice selection of backdrops for each pic as well.:thumbsup:
