What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

That's a neat looking pocket knife. Whittler design? I'm liking the blade designations. Seems like it's a wonderful user.

yep, I like those old schrade whittlers... nice, tight users (affordable too :) )
just sharpened a couple of nicks out of the edge and its ready to go.

George,

Love that old Schrade Whittler in what looks like Ebony lumber. NICE!. :D

I carry others on occasions, but this is a shot of my carry tray that I keep on bookshelf in the den. I figured if I posted it, it would be a while before you folks saw my ugly face posting in this thread again. :D.

Carrying the case medium stockman in G-10 past few days. Carry the large sebenza on weekends and added the becker necker to the mix. Just picked it up a few days ago. The Case medium with serpantine is my favorite pattern. Have a bone version also in CV. Very happy with these three...for now.

I've been carrying these little guys exclusively lately. Mostly the Mother of toilet seat one third one down. I don't know what happened in the direction of my collecting, but for a little no name knife, these little guys are in the front row for me.. I'm actually considering starting another one of those one knife carry for a year experiments. When I'm carrying one, half the time it's in my hand like a worry stone just fidgeting with it.

These are the ones that got pocketed, or bagged today. (I got a messenger bag and I like it. Some call it a man purse, but that is OK with me. More room for more knives. :D )

Gus, that Ken Coates Swayback is really my cup of tea. FANTASTIC antique looking bone on that one:thumbup:

Any chance of another pic or two of it?
Thanks

Gus,

A very fine selection of knives.

Very interesting to see the Case chestnut bone swayback in CV in the line up.

How does it stand up to all the other knives?

Neeman,

After hearing some of he guys talking about the swaybacks here, I waited and got one in CV.

Case did an excellent job on this pattern (if mine is representative), there is more quality in this knife than I have seen out of Case in over 2 decades (Case/Bose annual colabs excluded.) As a huge fan of Case, I am very proud of the knife. The things that stand out to me are:

Both blades are well centered.

Blade action is just right for this small knife. Blades march to half-stop and full open. Nothing sluggish about the action on either blade.

Finish all around is very well done. No gaps and the transition between materials on all sides of the knife is very smooth. Even when the blades are in the half-stop position the back of the knife is still as slick as it is fully opened or closed.

As far as the pattern, the knife is 3 and 1/8th closed (1/4" longer than a peanut at 2 and 7/8"). It rides very well in the pocket since the tangs are below the liners when it is closed.

Does it compare to the rest of the knives in that tray, not really other than the Queen/Burke. Those others are a step above. It is just with this pattern Case made the step a little shorter and not as steep. ;)

More shots of Ken's work.

This is a very well done knife. At my request Ken put a coping blade in as the secondary knife and it ruins the lines, but it is what I wanted.

I am leaving that funky blade closed in the pics, since it does take away somewhat to the looks and yup that is some of Ken's own bone that he dies and jiggs and it is great looking.

I've been feeling decidedly non-tactical lately. The Camillus 1760 has been in my pocket the last few days.

After carrying my Case 2-bladed Copperhead for a little over a week, I decided it was time for a change. Really like the Copperhead though. Today sees another Case 2-bladed in the form of a 62005RAZ. Antique Barnboard scales, long razor style blade and pen blade make this one up. I really like the straight lines of this model along with the front and rear bolsters.

Wow that Coats swayback is killer!! Eliott, that's a tuff stout one !
