What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Carrying my boys knife again today along with my trusty zippo and lucky penny :)
Got the strops out today to hone the edge a bit

I have great respect for the skill of those who create elaborate filework, and how well some can fit it to the overall aesthetic of the knife or knives in question.

Me, I always picture how much detritus a file-worked knife would quickly accrue in my possession. I have enough trouble with lint and such in and on smooth surfaces!

Meanwhile, today's mail call made it immediately apparent that this is a White Owl day.

(Thanks so much, Jack! What a hoot. ;))

Really struggling to get a good picture in my terribly lit bedroom, but here is what I took along today when I met up with one of or other members....

...can you guess who it was?

(I could lie and say I purposely obscured the name....)

A quick cell pic

Sealed the bone with renwax and a toothbrush. Did a quick hone of the blades. Its sharp but messy. The typical gec choppy edge bevels don't look pretty right away on a true flat benchstone. Oh well, its sharp and getting tossed into my luggage for a trip to Costa Rica in one day.

Wow! You got those pics up quick mate. I want to see those knives again now :D

Thanks Gevonovich! Big plans for the trip, tons of stuff! I do plan on whittling some drift wood on the beach though. Bring a little americana to the place. I was dying to take a machete I made, but I would flip out if it got lost in luggage.

I can't explain it, but for some reason I can't get Case wharncliffe mini trappers out of my mind today, so I put this one (my newest) in my pocket for the day:

^That's a beaut, Ed! Your taste in knives is very similar to my own... I'd follow you on Twitter any day! (if I had Twitter or knew how to use it or even had the desire to learn...) :D
