What type of bacon?

Well I had Bear bacon once and it was probably the best bacon I ever had....... Thats not your standard fare though. As far as grocery store offerings you can't go wrong with Neiman Ranch.

Happy eating.

Interesting... never even heard of bear being used as food. I found a bear bacon supplier pretty easily on Google, too.

Now that's what I'm talking about. Just get yourself a nice hefty slab of pork belly!

Such a horrible thread because it makes the cheap bacon I'm used to seem inferior in every way possible :(

Next on "Doomsday Preppers".
I am preparing for the impending shortage of bacon and the societal upheaval that will ensue.

ANY kind of bacon. DUH!

I did recently invest in a 9oz can of cooked bacon. It was expensive but the math works out and its actually cheaper than uncooked :p Of course its also lots more gross.. But great!

Beef, I WANT some Bacon jerky now!!!!

Lexi-, yes and yes and even more yes this time around :)

Carlos, thanks for the link. Gotta love having an option to buy bacon online

44mag, it is indeed the king of canned meats. SLice it thin, cook extra well and WALLAH, Chef Ramsey approved.

Gary, what do you mean, "cut it myself"? Have never seen anyone cut their own bacon, I assume I gotta get a cow?

YYYYEEEESSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!Will you also be bringing your girlfriend this time? I missed her at the last show, she is so nice.

It was about three times thicker a couple weeks ago. I don't know if this is common everywhere, but here in NYC, where we're somewhat far removed from farms, it's tough to find unpackaged, unprepped, unsliced bacon. Gotta go to a pricey specialty store with a charcuterie section or wait for a Greenmarket day.

Check out Esposito’s on 38th and 9th Ave. they usually have anything I need and it’s reasonably priced compared to my grocers on the east side. If you don’t see what you want just ask the guys, they can get anything from sweet breads, to oxtail, to whole pig.

Thanks, nydude! You must be from NY :p 38th and 9th sounds really far out there but I wouldn't mind seeing a whole piglet on my table at least once.

I eat that, but the cut is different. It tastes totally different, very tasty, but different. Speck is just a whole 'nother animal.

None of the bacon I have had in the US conpares to any of the stuff I have had at even the worst greasy spoon truck stop out here. That creamated little strip stuff just leaves me cold...!!!

I know what you mean - the first time I went to the US I was shocked at what they served up as bacon.
