What was your best purchase for 2004?

Well for this year I guess I will have to say my 6 new Randalls of various models. I got both carbon steel and stainless ones.
I will have 1 more coming in 2006 and 2 more in 2008. I sure wish they did not now have a 4yr. waiting list but hope I live long enough to see my 2008 order come in.

Ron
:D

I'd say my Mnandi is my favorite folder for the year. A Dozier Modified Personal (from A.G Russell) takes the spot for favorite fixed blade.

Tough choice between my DM knives Instigator and my Strider SMF. Like them both a heck of alot. Hopefully next year will be as good to me as this year has been. Have a great one fellas.

Man, that is a hard one. CRK Shadow III is probably one of the best. For an inexpensive carry blade the Emerson Hardware large clip point (I forgot the name). I hooked up with a custom maker in Clarksville, TN named Daniel Prentice and I have bought a few from him. He has (HAD, it is mine now) a damascus fighter that is sweet. The balance is supurb and the knife is fast. I also picked up a Gryphon M-10 that is a good little back up tool. I guess I have had a good year. David :D

It's got to be the Spyderco Sharpmaker for me. I saw pictures of the thing and thought there is no way in hell I'm going to be able to use that contraption. I finally broke down and bought one due to all the info I read here and it turned out to be my best purchase of 2004.

Honorable mention goes to my Superknife.
Same here with the Spyderco Sharpmaker. It's a great bit of kit.

It is sort of a toss-up for me also. I got a Lg Reg Websight Sebenza and a nice USN BM 630. They are both so awesome that I still can't decide which is better. A great dilema! :D

Easy. My best buy was a 240mm Masamoto VG-10 gyuto (chef knife.) Wonderful product that I use every day.

I was in the sports authority about 2 weeks ago and they had a mini grip in the display case for about 60 bucks. I had the cash in my pocket and I knew I could get it cheaper but I bought it anyway. Point of the story is when I brought it up to the register it rang up 19.99. I have to say this was my best buy of the year!

Folder:

Microtech Amphibian (new-old-stock 2002 model).

Fixed:

Dozier Yukon Pro Skinner

Accessory:

the butt-ugly strop I made for myself from leather scraps, elmer's glue and a chunk of 2 X 4.

To use: Snakewood Mnandi.

To use and use: Benchmade 705.

To use, lose, choose again, giveaway, use, giveaway, abuse, lose, choose again...Kabar-Dozier!

Happy New Year!

I would have to say my Brian Tighe "My Tighe" I wanted it just b/c it was a decent looking framelock, but when I received it, it suprised me with how well built it was and how well it fit my hand :)

Hmm...best knife purchase would have to be a Hinderer Flashover I got used (in mint shape) for $245. The quality of fit and finish is amazing and the design is great, at that price it's the best deal I've gotten on a knife. Close second is my Hinderer Firetac that I ordered from Rick. I actually like it slightly better and again think it's a great value for the money, but at $245 for the Flashover it was just an amazing value IMO.

Best non-knife purchase this year was my Omega SMP......I just love that watch.

Even though it came in the last quarter of the year, I would have to say the BM 630 Skirmish. The folks at Benchmade have nailed the framelock on this knife. For the materials, titanium and S30V vs. the cost (street price) it is an excellent deal.
