What Was Your First Benchmade..?

350

Can't remember the first, do remember my father and I went to the Louisville gun show in the 90s and he bought several mini reflexs and a couple auto spikes off a dealer
After we left he gave me a choice and I picked the lime green mini reflex pre safety. Still got the knife
I remember he had like 70$ in each knife.

My first was a 530 I bought at a pawn shop.It is the only Benchmade I own that was used.It got me hooked on the Axis lock big time!
The previous owner trashed the edge.It was a lot of work to bring it back.

It is in my pocket right now!I think it is the best flyweight gentleman's EDC ever made. And I love the spear point too.

I have to pat my pocket to see if it is there.Fantastic blade!

Benchmade BM970 in the early 90's. Second one was a AFO9000 right after the 970

I had an old-school Pika. It was a great little pocket folder. At this point, the coating is almost completely worn off and the serrations are almost dulled. It is still a nice smooth opener.

My first (and also first knife purchase overall) was a 530. Not a great knife, but I wish I still had it.

My first was a 710 combo in ATS-34 that I got sometime around 1998. It's got a lot of sentimental value, having been my EDC during two deployments to Iraq (in '03 and '05).

I've since added a mini grip, Ritter mini grip, and just today ordered a 940-1. I still love my 710 the best but I like to carry something with a bit smaller blade lately.

My first BM was a Mini Stryker in 2002. I was not impressed.

Then in 2007 I got a BM-HK 14210 and I loved it. Actually , the 484 blade very much resembles that of the 14210.

The first BM I purchased was an 810, but it just wasn't for me. I liked the blade design enough to turn around and buy a 950 almost immediately after handling the 810, and I still use and carry the sucker all the time. Soon after that I got a 275 for outdoor carry and had that for a while, carried and used it, but ended up selling in favor of a fixed blade.

1996. 975SBK spec-war Emerson. It was the state of the art back then. I wore that giant knife every day for the next 10 years. Both as Bruce Wayne and Batman. It just got sent in to benchmade for life sharp. They replaced the spacer with barrel stand-offs. Looks well used but feels like an old friend. I can't say I'm a big fan of tanto blades these days, and I'm on the fence about serrations, but that 975 was a heck of a knife back then. Scared all the computer geeks I worked with during the day back then. Was admired by all the heroes I worked with at night.

The Dejavoo 740 is as close to perfection as you can get, for an EDC/food prep/camping knife in my oppinion. All it is lacking is to have an axis lock, and it would be perfection!
