Well, for your first post to be in the Emerson knives forum you're off to a great start. Good on ya.
Welcome to the club, and enjoy your first Emerson! Nice choice.
MCS. Great 1st post! Congrats on a great 1st Emerson! On my 3rd A-100 as my buddys managed to talk me into selling the other 2 to them. Feel free to post and ask ???'s.
You guys do anything special to help break it in faster? I heard some folks clean them, WD40 etc or is it just keep working it in?
Thanks guys. Love the size for pocket carry and the blade is so very sharp. I got a set of scales in the works too. You guys do anything special to help break it in faster? I heard some folks clean them, WD40 etc or is it just keep working it in?
I forgot the pic

Work it.
I've always taken mine down, cleaned with WD40 and lubed with Tuff-Glide or CRK grease, but Ernest Emerson says his knives have just been taken off the assembly line and put into his pocket.
Mine immediately loosen up just fine with my method, but I'd like to try leaving it alone on my next one. That lubricant is a special mix to work well in any environment, especially salt water as the military guys that use them submerged need that protection.
That is why he uses Nylatron washers also instead of bronze.
2004 mini 7, yes I still have it.
If you are expecting the knife to be as smooth and loose as a bearing flipper, then you might be looking at the wrong product. Every Emerson I've ever had since the first one 2004 (not including the new flipper and bearing knives) has been tight. I imagine you can adjust the pivot and get the tension you want, but for me I prefer having the pivot a little snug and the knife requires a purposeful movement to open. Waving them open quickly has never been an issue. The grease they come with is fine and they don't need much of anything when new other than use. It just depends on what your expectations are really.
