What was your first GEC

My first GEC knife was the 2007 annual NKCA Youth Knife. It is a Tidioute Jumbo Trapper #73 is smooth white bone, 1 of 500. They were only sold to NKCA members. Yep, still have it!

The green micarta 92 was my first GEC as well. Didn't take long for me to realize that it wasn't for me, especially when I got my hands on a 93 soon after. The 93 has come to be my favorite pattern with the recent 74 mustang a close second.

Yeah, my 92 doesn’t see the light much anymore. I’ll pick one of a couple of 15s, 62 banana, a Lionsteel Dom, or even a SAK Compact classed up with micarta scales over the 92. It’s not a bad knife at all, just a little boring

This Farm & Field 99. I bought it in 2014 because it looked like the famous French Pradel i carried for all my young years, with the lock back feature.
Very well made knife, O1 tool steel, cutlery rivet pivot, no blade play, pinchable, smooth walk, loud talk. The right size for my hands. I carry it every day since 7 years.
One week after the purchase i bought a second one which is still in its tube, we never know what can happen.

Dan.

Maroon linen beer scout, long since sold because it was the first carbon blade I ever owned and the patina put me off at first. But I’ve learned a lot since then and don’t even carry modern knives much at all anymore.

Dang. I bet you wish you had that back. My beer scout looks a bit rough because I had to adjust to having carbon blades. Still love it though and enjoy the earned look it has

I only have two GECs and both are in stainless. My first is a 25 e-z open with a sheep foot blade in curly zebra wood and my second is a Tuna Valley cattle knife in Brazilian cherry. When they abandoned stainless, I moved on.
They have a new stainless coming out soon in case you weren’t aware. I only have one, a 15 navy knife

It’s weird I’m not turned on by a 92, but I really like the 29. Same frame, just different blade configuration.

My first was an ebony 33. Carried that a long time. My second was an ebony 33 northfield with a long pull and a coping blade. Bought the first here used for 50 bucks. Paid like 70 for the second. Years in my pocket. Gradually moved on to larger knives. Have a special spot for when I see pics of any 33 though. Would like to find another in ebony, but prices are through the roof! Maybe I will crack when I come across a good user in the newer run of jigged bone. Great knives.

I’m ok about it. I had a goldenrod jigged bone later that I also sold because I just didn’t enjoy the EO notch. The one I bought early on and wish I would have kept was my #35 Churchill.
