  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

What was your "gate-way" Becker?

I started with a 14 and later than same month had a 10. The 14 was enough to convince me that if a small neck-knife was well built, anything larger is going to be a force to be reckoned with!

HI,
My "gateway" Becker was a BK11 that, before it even got delivered, led to a BK2 and a BK7.

I sure am proud of this BK2 (unfortunately I didn't do the mod).

The dragon I've been chasing is my BK2. Can't say enough good things about that knife. I also have a 9, 11, and 14. Planning on getting all the new tweeners. I got it because I wanted a great 5 inch or so belt knife that wasn't super expensive. I've said it before and I'll say it till I die, Beckers are the best knife for money you can buy. (rhyme not intended)

So far, most (~10) have gotten a BK2 1st, then something else. I included the BK2 as 1st when there was a package deal including it and another Becker. There is a strong showing for the BK7 though.

Keep 'em coming!

I gotta admit some bias toward the BK2 and if Bryan Breeden wasn't hooking me up with a Custom of my very own design i'd be saving my pennies for a BK2 and some Micarta pants.

BK-11... Just got it yesterday, already started to do stuff to it. It came with the handle wrapped in paracord, that was the first thing to go and I'm looking for some black scales for it now.

I've been looking to upgrade my collection of EDCs, I went from CRKT and Gerber to Ka-Bar and Becker and Spyderco.Today I'm carrying my BK-11 and my Kabar TDI.

WHAT. BK7, sold it and bought a BK2. Then it started.
WHEN. From the begining.
WHY. The people on this forum and bang for your buck.

Mine was an Eskabar (BK-14).

I got it last April 2011 to finally have a decent EDC fixed blade that would be easily concealed under my t-shirt.

That would be the Machax, after reading about it in the old American Survival Guide, where it was presented as being the 'do-everything' knife. It was the early '90's and it was far and away the most I had spent on a knife to that point. My only regret is that I didn't buy 2 of them at that time.

It's not a bird and trout knife, and you would have some difficulties using if for critter skinnin' but for everything else.........................

BK11 & BK2.

This month.

I realized this past deer season while camping that my knives were quite inadequate.

Wow, exact same story for me but my moment of 'knife inadequacy' came out filling some feeders as I don't winter camp/hike all that much haha. But I got tired of my less than ideal knives and wanted a survival knife and a neck knife so I went with the BK2 and BK11 respectively.

I must admit I actually don't have the knives physically yet as they will be delivered Friday but I handled them at the A.G. Russell store and loved them. I can't wait for them to get here.

7 was the gateway. After that, I bought a 9 and had a 4-hour "event" in my pants. That pretty much did it for me. This was Camillus era but still good stuff.

I'm not sure i wanna know about what kind of "event" you had in your pants, but it sure sounds funny!!!

Ah yes, remember it like it was yesterday ... Like a lot of us, stumbling along, looking for a good hard use knife ... and THEN ... saw the light (say Halleluiah !!) (lol)

Seriously - couldn't decide between the 2 or the 9 so ... did the only thing a future Beckerhead could do ... got both :D (the 13 was included back then. Yup .... those were the days )

And then some how got to here - A long and sorted trip (trust me)

And now the journey continues, into the uncharted waters of "Tweenerville" (LOL)

The 7 was my gateway. Followed closely by the 2, then another 7. As it stands now, (2) 7's, a 2, a 14, and a LE10. That is until the 16 and 17 are available!

My first beckers were a 2,9, and 13...I got the urge to buy my first and didn't know which one to buy. Settled on the 2 and 9, the 13 was just a bonus for me :)
