What watch do you wear?

It could be used for timing so that you know how long you're spending on each task like building shelter or getting fire wood so that you can prioritise what to do based on how long you have left till it's dark. But it's not like it's an item that takes up space or weighs you down anyway, it's not necessary but very useful to have.

I agree that the time is not top priority, but it can be very handy. If you know when the sun goes down and a quick glance at your watch tells you what time it is, then you have a good indication of how much time is left to build a shelter and make fire. There are probably several other ways to estimate time, but if it can be done easily...

Edit: LOL, just saw Roger999 wrote something similar.

Exactly. Plus I figured we're all such gadget and gear heads carrying FAKs, GHBs, BOBs, PSKs, etc, etc that a watch would be an obvious addition to our daily EDC. I'm sure there are guys (and gals) here that live in the city but have PSKs with fishing kits, fire starters, etc, that don't even suit their environment but carry it anyway. I'd find it funny/odd if even one of those people didn't wear a watch and relied on their phone instead.

I'm probably going to pick up a Truglo Denali Chrono. I couldn't find a review anywhere so I'll post up some pics when it comes in.

Well a watch is useful for survival because you will know how long it will take until the sun rises and how spartan you need to be on food and fuel, or if you are incapacitated due to food deprivation or whatnot and regain conciousness in the dark you will have lost ALL SENSE of time and be in the first stages of shock unaware of how long you were out. Time keeping allows for multiple degrees of planning, and planning is part of the battle in the survival stakes. Watches have gotten ever so light and ever so strong in the last few years with stainless steel, plastics and now titanium used in the manufacturing it would negligent to ignore how important the item is and rely upon the fragile porous piece of crap smart phones that are all the rage these days.

Plus unless you've walked with a solar charger or have multiple spare batteries you're phone battery will be dead within a couple days if you're out in the wild.

I finally got my TruGlo. I love everything about the watch, but the strap has got to go, it is way too stiff, and thick.

Their website didn't mention that the numbers are luminous, WR to 10atm, and the screw down crown. I'll report back on time keeping in a month or so.

I'm usually wearing my Citizen Eco-Drive, I think it's called a diver model (?)
Have actually taken it scuba diving, been 90' underwater without any trouble. It's a great watch.

If I'm not wearing that, then I've got my Seiko orange monster on. Another solid diver

watches are a weakness, like knives for a few folks around here
Panerai 111H
Omega Speedy pro moon watch
Rolex sub
IWC Fleiger
IWC Pilot

Very, very nice collection. Of those we only share the Omega Speedy Pro. I don't have decent pics, but also wear a Sinn 103 st sa, Fortis Cosmonaut, older Breitling Chronomat, and Marathon GSAR.

I really like the IWC's.

I have one of those on my list, I'm hoping to pick one up in the next few weeks. Glad to hear that you get on well with it.

Is it a 20mm lug spacing on that watch for the strap width? I've got a grey 20mm NATO strap here lined up for it :D

Expedition.. its cheap, rugged and it works! Not that worried about damage or loss. I save my expensive watches for the fancy occasions

Sinn and Fortis are great manufacturers...real watch afficianados watches
goes without saying Breitling is a classic, I want a basic Navitimer Chrono with the slide rule function

Victorinox Recon and Renegade, my favorite watches. Sadly they are now discontinued from the manufacturer. They were army issued to me when I was in the Air Mobil Group of the Mexican army.

Casio 7900b today. Have about 12 other watches to choose from. Watches are another interest of mine.

Looks like you're about ready for a Divemaster, Summit, or Night Vision!

Drove out to Marathon in Richmond hill last week and picked up the bracelet for the TSAR.
The bracelet is a little on the expensive side, but the quality is top notch and it really takes the TSAR to another level of toughness.
