I'd rather stare at a beautiful watch than stare at the sun haha.
Read the signature. I get a sense there have been many a q-tip deep in those ears.
So how has the Rolex held up for you? How often do you need to send it in for service? What do you like about Rolex?

Its the only watch I own.
As I've stated on this board in the past, I got my Sub in '82 and wore it virtually every day for the next 25 years. I beat the crap out of that thing - infantry training, flight school, hyperbaric chambers, helo dunkers, high Gs, cat shots, traps, the recoil of thousands of rounds of ammunition, you name it - and I just couldn't kill it. I did break the sapphire crystal one time, but that was the only trip it ever took to the shop for anything other than a routine cleaning (which I'd do about every 5 or 6 years). Considering I could probably get 3 times what I paid for it today ...
Even with proper routine servicing, a lot of collectors fail to factor in the cost of that expense every few years when they finally decide to sell a cherished Rolex. Short-term? Yeah, it's easy to sell a Rolex for more than what you paid for it. But 3x more is unrealistic. Long-term? Forget it. Maybe if the buyer is an idiot and forgets to ask for the watch's service history. That would be a different story. Credit where it's due.... Rolex makes fantastic timepieces. I don't like the direction the company is headed in, but the products are still excellent. But even a Rolex with gears and springs inside needs proper lubrication and servicing.
