What watch do you wear?

Another Debaufre -- Air Force model:

That is the "Air Force Orange". I have one too:

Still this 168000. Gonna retire it soon. I'll send it to Rolex Service Center after I get a Deepsea. Then it will go in a safe and the Deepsea will be my beater.

So how has the Rolex held up for you? How often do you need to send it in for service? What do you like about Rolex?

This Rolex was made in 1987. I purchased it almost a year ago from the original owner who happens to be a jeweller and knifemaker. I've never dealt with Rolex Service yet.

It is a helluva beater everyday wear watch. I never take it off. Keeps time well within specs. This is the 2nd Rolex I have owned... like I said before, it won't be the last.

As I've stated on this board in the past, I got my Sub in '82 and wore it virtually every day for the next 25 years. I beat the crap out of that thing - infantry training, flight school, hyperbaric chambers, helo dunkers, high Gs, cat shots, traps, the recoil of thousands of rounds of ammunition, you name it - and I just couldn't kill it. I did break the sapphire crystal one time, but that was the only trip it ever took to the shop for anything other than a routine cleaning (which I'd do about every 5 or 6 years). Considering I could probably get 3 times what I paid for it today, I'd call that a pretty good value. I've toyed around with a couple other decent watches since, but none will ever be able to replace it.

Very cool, Charlie Mike and Bronco. Right now I have about half a dozen Seiko and Citizen watches which seem to be a very good value, but it's hard to beat the classic looks of Rolex. Right now I'm at the point where I want to have a hand full of watches to choose from, but eventually I think I'll get one watch to wear every day.

Its the only watch I own.

Even with proper routine servicing, a lot of collectors fail to factor in the cost of that expense every few years when they finally decide to sell a cherished Rolex. Short-term? Yeah, it's easy to sell a Rolex for more than what you paid for it. But 3x more is unrealistic. Long-term? Forget it. Maybe if the buyer is an idiot and forgets to ask for the watch's service history. That would be a different story. Credit where it's due.... Rolex makes fantastic timepieces. I don't like the direction the company is headed in, but the products are still excellent. But even a Rolex with gears and springs inside needs proper lubrication and servicing.

That's the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger on a high end watch. I can run my Seiko dive watch for 15 - 20 years till it stops and then buy another one for less than the cost of a Rolex service. If I get a high end watch, I'll be spending probably around $300 every 5 years. Not exactly cheap.
