What watch do you wear?

That's the only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger on a high end watch. I can run my Seiko dive watch for 15 - 20 years till it stops and then buy another one for less than the cost of a Rolex service. If I get a high end watch, I'll be spending probably around $300 every 5 years. Not exactly cheap.
Find a local COMPETENT watchmaker. If not local, one you can send the watch to. Don't use manufacturer's service centers. Try never to use a jewelry store as many simply farm the work out and charge you double (seriously). I get time only mechanical watches serviced for less than $100 by a watchmaker about an hour from here who was trained in the old Bulova School.

Thanks Stig.
But it's not that rare.
Maybe you're confusing it with the original Sub 300T from the late 60's.
This one is brand new and you can still get them.
It's still an awesome watch, though. :D

Yeah I know it's not super rare, but you know that someone is really into watches if they have one. Most people are content with timex and casio.

Mine is the rare. The 168000 was only made 6-9 months. Then came the 16610.

Yeah, a 16800 with a case of 904L vs 316L. Visually no different than the 16800. The biggest detractor to the 168000 (and 16800) was the faulty dial paint use. It's prone to cracking, so you'll definitely want to keep an eye out for that.

Here's rare. One of only 2000. Omega Weems

This one is uncommon enough the Omega Museum tried to get this from a friend before I purchased it from him more than 10 years ago. Auction estimates are $6500-$8700+

Those are the straight dope!

Vintage watch prices went, and stayed, stupidly high so I quit adding to my collection about 7 or 8 years ago and moved back adding vintage .22LR rifles. I'll soon take advantage of the high prices for vintage Swiss watches.

I was a 11B4GJ3. I was assinged to a Joint SOCOM (Iraq) task force on my last tour and all the Sr NCO's and Officers got one issued.
