What will I do???

This is why I always advocate for keeping a dedicated "deep cavity" back up knife. You never know, so having a (most likely small...but no judgement) knife tucked away that is accessible with nothing more than a strong cup of coffee and a 5 minute sit down could save the day.

Absent of that? Man, I dunno. I guess find the weakest coworker/underling and side stomp their femur. Fashion the resulting compound fracture into a makeshift paleo knife. Im not sure about the edge retention, but you may be able to open a couple of boxes before HR calls you into the office for another talk.

Ah the old 'folder in the prison-wallet'. At least I hope it's a folder, and non-assisted.

Luckily, I was standing in line at Lowe’s with a CKRT in my And and my wife text me. She is stopping by to eat lunch with me. Guess what she had! That’s why I love her!
Thanks for all the support guys. I NEVER forget my edc. I used it this morning and set it down.

No, no, no, Monofletch. Not getting off that easy.

There is going to be a panel to decide if a board of inquiry is needed to look into this. A "so called" knife nut goes off with no knife. This is serious.

No back up knife?

No keychain knife?

No car/truck/van/saddlebag knife?

This is serious dereliction of duty.

Send two corners of your card to Spark, care of "The Negligent knife Knut carrier department.

Oh, and consider yourself on double secret probation!

I had the exact same thing happen to me this morning. Step out of my truck do the normal semi subconscious pat down to make things are in their right place and no knife...dammit no knife! I gave my Spyderco K2 a much needed cleaning yesterday evening and left it in my hunting room and not with my keys, didn’t cross my mind this morning. Oh well that’s why we have backups, in this case I grabbed my Spyderco Southard and went on to work.
I made it through the day but man it wasn’t nearly the same, never again ... hopefully.

Well, In My defense I keep my Leatherman Supertool in my lunchbox.

Oh man, totally missed this! You should have texted me. Glad you survived!

Yeah, like others have said...it would be one thing if you said you forgot one of the usual 3-4 knives you normally carry. But "I forgot my knife". Really?!? Knife, singular? You're supposed to be a "knife guy". May as well start saying "I've got some knifes at home". 😜

initial reaction-suck it up and not make a big deal of it. Life goes on.
Then I forgot mine today (:. This very rarely happens. I went on, but I was not happy about it.
I do have a car knife if I had needed it, but not the same as having my EDC

I forgot mine as well today.

But I keep a spare in my truck.

Good thing I didn’t have my wife’s car.

I've had fall back on one of the knives in my truck a few times. I always mean to find a keychain knife I like, but every time I remember that my keychain is already heavy enough and leave it at that. 😁

A car, van, truck can be stolen. I suggest a few get home bags with knives and sharpening gear to be kept in the dropped ceiling and ventilation ducts of your workplace.

I think the most painful part of forgetting a knife isn't being without a cutting tool, I think it's the disappointment we feel in ourselves for forgetting A KNIFE. "I'm a KNIFE GUY! Of all things how could I forget MY KNIFE?!"

Even if you carry more than one, forgetting your MAIN KNIFE can be a blow to ones sense of preparedness, and pride.

I imagine it would be far less painful to forget anything else, wallet, keys, phone.

And the worst nightmare of all- If someone who knew you were a "Knife Guy" asked you if you had a knife to cut something and you didn't because it was the one time in your life that you forgot it. Oh the shame of it all. 😁

I confess . Years ago I suffered some kind of brainfart , and realized that I was out in public , shopping at the the local WM with absolutely zero knives of any kind !

Horrible , traumatic and life altering experience .

I immediately went to the sports dept and found a Kershaw Blur , to get me thru the day .

Subsequently, I started a knife and tool stash in the SUV and in my "travel trouble " bag . So "never again " .

Also , later put a knife on my keychain so that I at least would have that if I could start the car to go anywhere .

CIVIVI Pintail?

John,

Exactly one of the knives I was carrying yesterday that I could have brought you to help you make it thru the day! You had your choice of a medium sized Civivi Pintail green micarta/black S35VN blade, a larger full sized BM Grip, green micarta/sheepsfoot PS S30V or a smaller Ferrum Forge Mini-Archbishop, carbon fiber/Nitro V.

Those are what was in the backpack, the car has slightly larger blades within the get-home bag... ;) I'd never leave a good trading partner without options!

Text me…. We need to meet up again and do some swapping!!

Sure, I'll pile on...

- Even my wife has a Ka-Bar Dozier in her glove box!

- No tiny extra knife on your key ring?

- Where is your multi-tool that also has a blade?

Seriously though, I'm glad it worked out. Just like flying somewhere, it can occasionally be a fun excuse to try something new from the Walmart knife counter. The difference is, a situation like this means it fills the gap for an afternoon. Then what? Maybe sharpen it up and dump it in the glove box...
