What will I do???

Two fixed blades and two folders on my person at all times outside the house, unless I'm just out front swinging the kettelbells. If I leave the property without a knife (and my flashlight, multitool, pocket diamond rod, sharpie, pen, watch, and phone), either something is seriously wrong, or I'm out for a run. And even then I'll have at least my neck knife and flashlight.

What to do:

(a) Put a SAK/Classic SD on your vehicle/house key ring.
(b) Tomorrow, bring an extra knife to leave in one of your desk drawers.
(d) have pot of strong caffinated coffee before leaving home to ensure you are awake, and pat down your pockets to make sure you are not forgetting anything, and verify that you remembered to put your pants on.

(If you can forget your knife, you could forget your pants.)

I’m standing here at work and I realized I left my knife at home . Should I leave and call in sick or just grin and bare it? It’s going to be a looooooong day!

This is one more reason I carry more than one, I'm less likely to go to work naked. Also, there is a SAK on top of my desk that I have when I forget to put one in the pocket. I've had to use that backup a couple times. My work vest also has a knife that stays in it but with the hot summer, it was too hot to wear the vest around the building.

If its anything like my experiences when that happens, the day you left the knife at home will probably be the one day you actually want to cut something.

I think you should check out the fixed n folder thread n find a small fixed to accompany whatever folder you're carrying for the day! Once it becomes a habit its almost impossible to forget two knives!!!

I usually have 2 or 3 on me at all times along with my flashlight. I also have 3 or 4 in my truck and tool boxes that travel with me daily.

I have a spare in my glove box now. It will NOT happen again!!

What happens if your car is in the shop and you use a rental/loner?

All kidding aside, this is your wake up call. Its time to put a small keychain back up knife on your keys. No matter a Victorinox classic, Buck mini Buck, whatever. Most times all y9oou need is a small but sharp blade with an inch and a half to 2 inches anyways.

Most my life I lived and worked in and around my native Washington D.C. You couldn't have much knife entering the government buildings which is what makes up a lot of D.C. buildings. So many times going "downtown" my only pocket knife was what was on my keychain because I knew I was going into the Department of Agriculture, or the Department of Commerce, or the Department of whatever. The small keychain size 'pen knife' slipped right through security with no problem. Especially the red handle little SAK. Yet it opened all kinds of packages, plastic blister packaging that was designed to defeat tooth and nail and small charges of C4.

You need a keychain knife to carry as your ultimate backup that you literally can't leave home without. From about 1995 on, I had the little SAK classic on my keyring with my house key, car key, tool box key. Even if I dropped my car off for service, I just took the car key off the ring. The ring also held my keychain flashlight. So I ALWAYS had a flashlight and small knife on me.

Go get yourself a keychain knife today.

Another possible solution is a 24/7 neck knife. I make a slim model that packs a 3 1/2" cutting edge and 4" handle into a 3 oz. package (including the sheath and cord). The one I made for myself is LC200N, so it doesn't even need to come off for showering or swimming.
