Bundeswehr kampfmesser (that's how my knife looked when i got it)was actually my trench knife, though i spend much more time in front of trenchesride:

Cool sword/chete FortyTwoBlades, I'm liking the Gladius resemblance.
Probably a Cold Steel Peacekeeper because it's wide and you can slash with it, and you don't have to spend time getting your fingers into a hand or finger-guard. It probably doesn't stab as well as those classic, needley trench knives, but it seems like under stress it would be easier to slash than to land a good stab. It's nice to have the option anyway.

I had a vintage Peacekeeper - the longest one about 13" oal made in Seki city. The sheath was cordura w/leather. I sold it 2 yrs ago after having it about 17 years. Where is the new Peacekeeper made and what steel? They rock, I'd get another one if they're made in Japan and the price isn't crazy expensive.
I have a Peacekeeper 1 that I bought about 8 months ago (same as that picture); it's the current model. Made in Japan (no seki city label), VG-1 San Mai III. They retail around $100-120 I think (I got mine new on ebay). It's quite nice if you like daggers; a real beast. It's still about a foot long.
if you could bring any knife/weapon into a trench with you that can NOT be a gun, what would it be?

But replace the 4ft bar with a 6 footer.
