What would be YOUR trench knife?

Whats a 6' bar gonna do that a 4' can't? now you're just being ridiculous :D

-sh00ter

You're right. This would be a much better defense.

Or get two 6' barred Husqies and connect them back to back, making a chainsaw Klingon sword.

I would be willing to stake my life on any of the following in a situation like that: Crkt Hisshou, Coldsteel xl espada, coldsteel oss and coldsteel Laredo bowie.

a pair of katars or a crkt hisshou
correction!
make that a "...a 14" bladed hooded katar and a buckler with a front spike..." :-)

To kill or to be killed, that is the answer: something usefully long, terribly quick and horribly sharp.

My understanding is stabbing with the point was preferred to slashing, it worked better for dealing with all of the layers of thick wool they had to get through. Guess that explains why they had all the trench maces and impact weapons as well.

With that being said, I would have to go with a classic. Surprised no one's brought it up yet.

Newspaper illustration of WWI trench raid by Gurkas using kukries c. 1915.

Laguna hawk, and a Ontario M3. -Cheap, proven, and effective.

Coldsteel Peacekeeper is great, but I want a steel guard. Sog Desert Dagger is also good, but guard is slightly too small.

Easy, any of my Grayman Sub-Saharans

I'd probably go with the 8, second from left, as it has good reach but is still short enough to be maneuvered quickly and easily in the confines of a trench.
I wouldn't go with a sword, most likely too unwieldy in the bustling and packed trenches.

Trench knife, eh? I'd take the infamous 'shark knife.' When the bad-guys are doubled over laughing, I could poke 'em in the eye and run away... but I don't know if it's a good idea to run with a shark knife...

I'd choose a hobbit sword! I think it's +++20 against enemies and glows when there's orc nearby!

While it is technically an Elven dagger given to Frodo from Bilbo, his cousin, who found it in a troll cave, it is definitely an admirable choice:thumbup:.

We just have to be clear about the sword making capabilities of hobbits...

:D
